Wow

Warning: Spoilers
I feel like the opening scene is the most disturbing, brutally violent scene in television history. Just shocking and difficult to watch. Very realistic, difficult to get over... honestly the rest of the episode is fine, nothing groundbreaking, yet still excellent television.

Another Well-Written, Captivating Episode!
nomis9429 November 2015
I really enjoyed this episode. The storytelling of this TV series is very nice and everything is so interesting. I love Mapleton and the characters, their past and their issues, everything.

This episode deals with a cruel crime scene and we have some serious moral dilemmas here.

I really like Kevin as a character, he has a good heart and is yet a badass. His final scene in this episode really got me. This actor does a brilliant job.

The scenes with the GR are nice and the diner scene is haunting and kinda weird - but so well-acted!

I love this TV series, I love the actors, the story, the setting, the atmosphere... It's great!

I'm on board

It's taken five episodes but now I'm hooked. I always knew there was potential here for me to become addicted to this intriguing show.

I love how it feels like a bizarre dream. I really enjoy existing with these characters even if I don't understand every single thing that's happening onscreen.

Justin Theroux is disgustingly hot.

Laurie and the whistle
DizzleZ5 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
How did Laurie know there were whistles? Did she know what would happen if she blew one (that officers might hear and respond or a neighbor would call the police)? Or was she just making noise to drown out/stop the vigil?

Do the Guilty Remnants deserve any help at all?
TheDonaldofDoom21 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It's the question at the heart of this episode, tackled brilliantly throughout. The Guilty Remnants go out of their way to make life unpleasant for other citizens, so now that they're in danger, possibly in need of protection, whether or not to offer that is a morally grey area to which different people have different approaches. Garvey, despite like everyone else hating what the GRs do, feels he has a duty to help them, perhaps also because he still cares about his wife. Even when they're making it clear they don't appreciate his help at all he still tries. The citizens in general aren't keen on it- after all they're probably secretly thinking, if the GRs just go away isn't that better for all of us? The idea of having to suffer a curfew because a weird cult has provoked violence against themselves is popular with no one. And yet, at least one person has a different approach: Matt Jamison. Although I felt a lot of sympathy for him for having the purity in his heart to try and offer the GRs redemption, he still hasn't learned from his experience of losing the church that they just don't care about any attempt to help them. When Laurie blows her whistle in his face, it's a powerful moment not only because of the obvious reason, but also because it's the moment that reveals she's well and truly lost to Kevin (if that wasn't clear enough from the fact that she wouldn't talk even when given the opportunity).

Speaking of, from the bizarre cafe scene it's clearer what the GRs are about- the idea that if you reject all emotion, it's better for you. Maybe because it means you won't have your life torn apart after losing loved ones. Or I could be barking up the wrong tree. One thing I didn't understand was the whole business with Kevin's white shirts. If this was supposed to mean something relevant to the theme of the episode or show I missed it. It's the only thing that marred the otherwise harrowing episode.

Okay, not great till now.

Way to boring till now, except one episode. This episode really bored me a lot but I think it will improve in the next two seasons. Or atleast that's what the ratings say. Let's see.
