The "SeaWorld" scene from the novel will not be seen in the movie. This is because the movie "Blackfish" had made people rethink SeaWorld and captivity. If the SeaWorld scene were in the movie, people would possibly boycott and the box office would be low. The screenplay writers decided it would be best to not put the SeaWorld scene in.

In the beginning of the movie, it showed flashbacks of Margo crawling out her bedroom window and Quentin seeing her from his. In the flashback, the houses were next to each other by the way the windows were facing. Later in the movie, we see Margo go to her house which is now across the street from Quentin's when actually, Quentin can see her bedroom window from his because each of their bedrooms are upstairs at the front of the house AND their houses are across the street from one another.

The scenes shot at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC were shot in December even though it was warm Florida weather in the movie. School was in session at the time. Props even covered the bottom part of a bare winter tree at the school to make it appear in season. Also the New York State road sign in the movie was actually erected on the side on the Kannapolis Parkway highway in Kannapolis, NC (which is just north of but connected to Concord). That scene was shot in the middle of the night without any of the actors present.
