- At home, brokenhearted and despondent, Louis' therapeutic phone session with Dr. Lipschitz gets interrupted by a call from Katrina. He says he may not be back to work for a while and tells her not to call him again.
Harvey tells Scottie that he couldn't -- rather than wouldn't -- tell her the reason he needed Louis' favor. She seems okay with it.
In the office, Harvey gets a visit from a lawyer named James Quelling, who's giving Harvey a head's up on his plan to sue his client, Marathon Playground, for using toxic materials, a claim he won't be filing until Friday.
Mike tells Rachel about the job offer from Jonathan. She thinks if he can't talk honestly to Harvey about the situation then he isn't his friend and shouldn't be his boss.
Harvey tells Mike about James' lawsuit. The claim is bogus but it could ruin Marathon Playground's upcoming IPO. He wants Mike to look into James.
Donna notifies Jessica of former name partner Charles Van Dyke paying her a visit.
Charles thinks they should go into her office, but Jessica thinks the hallway is just fine. He thinks they're hiding profits and would like a 30% increase in his dividend check. He presents a formal demand to audit the books.
Mike and Harvey meet with James. They've discovered he's recently divorced and in financial trouble as the result of a failed case. This latest case is weak but, given the IPO, Harvey offers him $100,000 to end it. When Mike adds that it's contingent upon him not representing any other plaintiffs, it avoids a $10,000,000 hit. James won't accept less than $1,000,000 and leaves. Mike asks Harvey about his pre-meeting plan to offer up $500,000, but Harvey tells Mike he realized James is a gambler and his money problems caused the divorce, not the other way around.
Jessica pays Katrina a visit, demanding to know why Louis isn't in his office. Katrina covers for him. Jessica needs Louis to handle Charles' demand to open the firm's books, and she needs it done yesterday.
Mike brings Harvey an address for James' game. Harvey wants them to go together. Mike brings up the job offer. Harvey says Mike should accept it, reminding him that he recently said he'd give anything not to be a fraud. "Still be in the majors," says Harvey, "just be a different sport."
Katrina asks Rachel for help covering for Louis. Rachel agrees.
Harvey snaps at Scottie when she asks about them doing something together that night. She leaves and Donna thinks Harvey is hurt that Mike might leave and taking it out inappropriately on Scottie. Unless he realizes this, he could lose them both.
Rachel and Katrina (forming the clandestine "Louis" in the office) are giddy they've found something good on Charles.
Based on the report from Rachel and Katrina, Jessica offers Charles five cases to work, thinking all he really wants is to be part of the operation. He turns her down. She then revokes his dividend check, saying his exit agreement was with a firm that no longer exists; however, the fine print of his agreement is that it is with any firm that has her as a name partner. She wasn't aware. Charles then triples his demand.
Harvey goes to James' poker game, which is incredibly high stakes. Harvey beats him out of a $100,000 pot.
Mike negotiates with Jonathan, asking for a piece of the company. Jonathan realizes that Mike isn't sure whether or not to take the job. This "negotiation" is to force Jonathan to make up Mike's mind for him. Jonathan says he'll begin interviewing other candidates the following day; once he finds the right person, Mike no longer has an offer, leaving Mike to figure out what he really wants to do.
Negotiating at the poker table, Harvey offers to give James the money if he takes the deal.
Mike doesn't sleep that night, still unsure what to do. He wants Rachel to tell him how she feels. She eventually admits that she thinks he should take the job with Jonathan to avoid the worry of being found out, which is eating him alive.
Jessica tells Katrina she was hung out to dry. She knows Louis would never have missed the fine print and Katrina has to admit she lied. Jessica fires her, but Katrina still protects Louis. Rachel overhears.
Mike waits for Harvey in his office. He's not there, but Mike tells Donna he's taking the job. She points out all the things Harvey has done for him. Donna thinks Harvey needs Mike and Mike needs the job. Ultimately Mike says "I don't want to live my life like this anymore." She warns him to make sure he's a terrific investment banker.
Harvey picks up Scottie in a limo to apologize. He tells her about Mike's job offer and she points out that if he wants Mike stay perhaps he should tell Mike he wants him to stay.
Harvey meets James. James has looked into the way the firm handled Hessington Oil and plans to go public with how he and Mike gamed the situation. Harvey now needs to give him $2 million or he'll go to the bar.
Harvey tells Mike about James and Hessington Oil. He thinks they need to hack into the bar so Mike isn't caught. Mike says he's taking Jonathan's job and doesn't believe it'll be an issue if he's no longer working for Harvey. Harvey thinks a person like James will continue to sniff around and Mike's leaving won't be enough.
Rachel tells Jessica that Katrina was covering for Louis. She admits that she helped but points out they were being loyal to Louis.
Jessica goes to Louis' place and tells him about Katrina. She's able to pump him up and he tells her, that to dodge Charles, they need to become an LLC. This will require re-writing thousands of contracts by the following day, but Louis says his associates are up for it.
Harvey tells Scottie that Mike is leaving. He admits he never asked Mike to stay and that the situation is "complicated." He tells her about James and Hessington, and says he can't fight back. She continues to press him, convinced something else is going on. She's hurt that he won't talk about it. He remains tight-lipped.
That night Mike goes to see Harvey. He shows him that's he's found something on James that should end the threat. Harvey tells him to handle it and "be a lawyer one last time."
Mike sees James in his office. He shows him evidence that James came by his plaintiffs illegally. James knows Mike came by the info illegally, meaning neither of them can go to the bar, but Mike tells him that this is his last day as a lawyer. He doesn't care. An emotional James promises to drop the suit to remain a lawyer.
Charles' court case begins and Louis isn't there. Jessica stalls him by telling a story about her hire being a diversity one. Louis arrives in time.
Harvey tells Donna he's going to tell Scottie about Mike. He says that the fact he can't tell Scottie is driving him crazy. Donna reminds him that, no matter how much he wants to, he simply can't tell Scottie, not when she's pissed at him, and not when she's always looking for things to be pissed off about him. Mike arrives and Donna gives them the room. Mike's hacked the bar in deciding to stay with the firm.
