Jacob Kressner and the animal handler on set Anton Karlsson wanted to use real ants for certain shots and to be able to write "No animals where harmed during this production" in the final credits. However, during the final shot for the real ants one of them tragically broke its back after being dropped from 50 cm onto the floor and into frame. It did not survive. In the BTS documentary for "The Ant" the animal handler on set comments that no ants have been harmed on this production. This was recorded before the incident and is sadly incorrect information.
