When agent Murphy tells his wife on the plane they must be over the Amazon is a factual mistake. Flying from the US to Bogota, or any of the main cities of Colombia you would never fly over the Amazon given that these cities are located north of where the actual Colombian Amazon juggle starts and any Colombia bound US flight would enter the country from the north. Quotes

Steve Murphy: [as narrator] Nowadays, the US government can listen to anything you say. They know where you are, they know who you're talking to, and trust me, they know who you're fucking. You turn on a cell phone or a computer, and you're doomed. But in Colombia in 1989, it wasn't that easy. First off, there was no Internet. No cells. The best they had were satellite phones, and in order to capture a satellite phone, you had to fly directly over it. On top of that, the only people who had sat ...

Great Opening Episode
5 February 2017 | by 851222See all my reviews

Greetings from Lithuania.

The opening episode of "Narcos" named "Descenso" is just a great TV all around. Captivating script and bigger then life true story, great acting, solid directing and excellent pacing - its all here. Cinematography was also very good, but you can't ask anything else (and expect it) from a pilot - the first episode that has to hook viewers - and it delivers fully. After more series you kinda can see the series quality better, but at the moment after first episode i can say - i'm in for a ride.

Overall, the opening episode of "Narcos" isn't a masterpiece nor it tells a really fresh story, because if you watch a lot of movies and TV shows you have seen it before, but who cares if it is done so good. Great opening episode.
