When a tornado transports Dorothy Gale from Lucas, Kan., to the faraway land of Oz, her arrival sets in motion a prophecy about a disastrous event known as The Beast Forever and strikes fear into the land's almighty ruler, the Wizard. In the stories, Jack is Jack Pumpkinhead, made by Tip with sticks and a pumpkin to scares Mombi. In the show, Jack being a live reference of both Pumpkinhead and Tin Man helped the series to maintain its human approach, avoiding being a fable like the stories, as during entire show there are no animals or inanimated objects acting like humans. 1 ep off the end of the series, and I know it's been cancelled but I wanted to see it anyway.
Really impressed with this and vastly surprised by it's cancellation, it's FAR superior to a great deal of programs out there (some of which I watch and also enjoy).
I think that D'Onofiro is a terrible miscast, his gravitas that worked so well in Daredevil is misplaced here and for me at least it doesn't work at all thankfully his screen presence in minimal.
Sets and production value are very good, and the lead is absolutely serviceable in the this role.
I'm quite bemused by the series failing, it certainly has the twist and reveals that seem to grab audiences these days along with an interesting plot line and decent production value so why it was cancelled so soon I cannot fathom, to me it could have been one of the top 10 things I watched, easily.
