After his husband's death, Kalle desperately distracts himself from grief by partying. But despite his frantic attempt to flee from his pain, an encounter with a random woman opens his eyes to the privileges he has been rejecting.

After his husband's tragic death, Kalle has drowned himself in a desperate escape from grief. In a frantic attempt to outrun his pain, he loses himself in alcohol, drugs, and sex, determined to avoid facing the echoes of loss at any cost.

Whenever Kalle disappears into his escapades, it is his brother, Jesper, who has to pull him out of the mess. This takes a toll on Jesper's relationship with his fiancee, Monika, who is tired of him constantly bending over backward for his older brother.

When Kalle once again calls Jesper after being thrown out of a bar, Monika persuades Jesper to lure Kalle back to their place. There, they are met by Monika and her cousin Møller, who is studying psychology. Monika has had enough of Kalle's destructive antics - It's time for him to face the pain he's been running from. It's time for him to allow himself to grieve the loss of his husband. That's why she has brought in her cousin Møller-to stage an intervention.

Kalle feels ambushed and betrayed by his brother and tries every possible excuse to escape. But Monika and Møller insist: things won't get better until he dares to cry. Pretending to agree, Kalle asks for a chance to take a shower first, to wash off the worst of the mess.

As soon as he undresses and locks the door, he manages to escape. He would rather run home in his underwear through a freezing January morning than be forced to talk about his grief.

However, Kalle quickly realizes it is too cold to make it home on foot. Shivering, he desperately tries to flag down passing cars with no success. Finally, he jumps in front of a car, forcing it to stop with screeching brakes. Behind the wheel is Polina, a Ukrainian refugee. She agrees to drive him home, but when the car radio broadcasts news of new attacks in Ukraine, her own grief resurfaces in full force.

Even though they cannot speak the same language, the two mourners find solace in shared, cleansing tears.

BUDMO! is a story of grief, denial, and human connection, aiming to highlight the reality that running from one's problems only makes things worse-not just for oneself, but for those around you.

Seeking therapy or asking for help can be terrifying, especially when it means acknowledging the loss of something dear. That is the situation Kalle finds himself in. But in order to heal, one must first dare to confront their pain. And sometimes, it is not words, but pure, unfiltered tears that provide true healing. This is what Kalle discovers in his encounter with Polina-a human connection that transcends language and culture.
