Storyline

A genre-defying comedy about the unreliability of memory. It deconstructs its own narrative as it crisscrosses between fiction, documentary and dreams. The film is a series of interlinking puzzles - an unsolved Hollywood murder; the search for the origins of a legendary joke; and the mystery of why the filmmaker's own family left him for dead. Historical figure Ayn Rand, movie actor Cesar Romero, and television journalist Mike Wallace turn up as additional pieces of the puzzle. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

The Cesar Romero joke is based on an actual event. For a 1964 airing of NBC's "Saturday Night at the Movies," the film being screened, Edward Dmytryk's The Left Hand of God, starring Lee J. Cobb, could not fill the two-hour time slot so Romero (popular at the time for playing The Joker on the BATMAN television series) was selected to interview star Lee J. Cobb about the film to fill the remainder of the show. The very stilted interview (of which the original appears to have been lost, decades ago) developed into what became the so-called 'Cesar Romero joke.' See more »
