Continuity

When Kim takes interviews of the army members, the recording time of the camera keeps changing.

Factual errors

Iain makes a comment "go bile yer heid ya wee bampot" which is captioned as "speaking Gaelic." But the language is actually Scottish English, which is a language that can be considered a localized variety of Standard English that is mixed with the Scots language. Neither English nor Scots is directly related to (Scottish) Gaelic: English, Scottish English and Scots are Germanic languages, while Scottish Gaelic is a Celtic language. In other words, "Scots" and "(Scottish) Gaelic" are two completely different languages.
Coughlin is a Marine lance corporal. The credits list him as an Army specialist.
Throughout the film, Tall Brian shoots with a Canon XL-1 (and later GL-1) camera. Shots of his viewfinder show a 30p HDV (HD video) text module in the upper corner. XL-1 and GL-1 cameras did not shoot in HDV; their highest resolution was 768 x 576.
When Kim meets Geri Taub at her office towards the end, Geri is seen serving a glass of water out of a San Pellegrino bottle. Even though San Pellegrino is an Italian brand of sparkling water, the water seen pouring into the glass is clearly still.
Billy Bob Thornton's character is a Marine Corps Brigadier General. However, the insignia on his uniform is that of a Colonel.

Revealing mistakes

The interior of Kabul Airport is actually the New Delhi Railway Station, which was being renovated. The sign boards on the door say "Station Master" and "Upper Class Waiting room." In the next scene, below the electronic display board, "Railway Station" and fancy colorful scales are visible.

Anachronisms

When Kim arrives in Afghanistan in 2002, two V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft are on the airfield's flight line. The Osprey was deployed to Afghanistan in 2007.
During the bombing in the cold open, and again later in the film, Kim calls her producer back in New York on an iPhone. This scene takes place in 2006; the first iPhone was released in 2007.
When Kim rides the exercise bike at the gym, the televisions showing news coverage are flat panels. In 2003, flat panel displays were rare, and too expensive for most gyms.
During the Christmas party home video footage, the camera rack focuses from a guy "mooning" in the window to Martin Freeman. Home video cameras are auto-focus with deep focus and do not allow for racking focus.

Errors in geography

The signs inside Kabul airport are in Hindi, the language of New Delhi, India, where filming was done. Dari and Pashto are Afghanistan's dominant languages, and they use a different script.

Character error

During the early parts of her interviews with the Marines in the field, several Marines identify themselves by their rank. Several state a rank different than the rank indicated on their uniform.
Fahim tells Lisa that the Afghan people are slaughtering lambs because it's the end of Ramadan. He conflates two different Islamic holidays. Eid Al-Fitr celebrates the end of Ramadan. Eid Al-Adha is the festival of the sacrifice, when Muslims slaughter lambs to eat and distribute to the poor.
Billy Bob Thornton's hair and mustache are not even close to US Marine Corps grooming standards.
On at least two occasions characters refer to an 'IUD' when they mean home-made bomb - the expression should be IED for improvised explosive device.
When Fahim gives Kim a hair tie after she interviews Coughlin he calls her "Tina."
