Storyline

A former junior horse jumper champion, works on a ranch mucking out stalls and other chores for a living. By chance she gets the opportunity to show her riding skills, which kick-starts her career again. Meanwhile Elysse Dumar (Cassi Thomson) ridicules her for even trying to compete, suggesting that she should stay mucking out stalls. Even Debi's father doesn't want her to jump horses. But Debi (Nikki Reed) doesn't give up, and is determined to prove everyone, who thinks otherwise, wrong. With the help from Jonathan (Ryan Merriman), Mr. Valentine (Ving Rhames) and a few others who believe in her, Debi starts winning races and all looks well for the future. But then she falls from her owners horse while demonstrating jumps, and falls in a coma for 10 days. With her left side being paralyzed and unable to walk her future seems bleak. Will she ever ride and compete again? Written by Rodejong

Trivia

They use different horses as The Evangelist. The horse Debi rides in the film as The Evangelist is not the same horse that she first meets coming running towards her. The white dot in the horse's forehead changes size and placement several times. See more »

Very good film for all ages.
30 April 2016 | by HoosierBobSee all my reviews

I am a sucker for true stories and this movie is based on real events within the American horse world in our recent past. The actors are all great at their jobs and were typecast very well for their parts. William Shatner plays a typical businessman, void of any personal feelings of how his decisions might affect those around him.

Ving Rhames carries his role as a somewhat kindred spirit to the lead character and is allowed to explain in the movie why he makes stands when stands are needed.

This film has very good production values and a great soundtrack as well.

Don't be afraid to see what might be considered a "family" film as the film has something for pretty much anybody who likes horses and good people going thru "class struggles" within a tight knit horse-related community of rich snobs and their "toys".
