El somni (The Dream) is a remarkable film directed by Franc Aleu, which shows the creative process of over 40 international artists who participated in a dinner put together as an opera in twelve dishes, with gastronomic creations by the Roca brothers, from the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca. A visual experience that enables the spectator to get to know the dynamic approach and the challenges that have taken the Roca brothers to the top. Images, matter, music, flavor and smell converge on this journey with guests such as Ferran Adrià, Zubin Mehta, Miquel Barceló, Freida Pinto, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Harold McGee.Written by
An interesting experience intended mostly for hedonistic foodies
This documentary is about an interesting culinary experiment made at El Celler de Can Roca restaurant in Girona, Spain, that was elected in 2013 as one of the best restaurants in the world. The chefs there designed a carefully planned multi-course meal whereas each entry is served under the accompaniment of certain, mostly opera, music, on special dishes and table illumination. The camera work is beautiful with nice images from nature and abstract art, Salvador Dali- style.
Those who love to eat at high-end restaurants and appreciate Haute Cuisine, like opera and the Catalan culture (Dali, Gaudi) will enjoy this film.
