Dutugamunu also known as Dutthagamani and Gamani Abhaya ("fearless Gamini"), was a Sinhalese king of Sri Lanka who reigned from 161 BC to 137 BC. He is renowned for defeating and overthrowing Elara, the usurping Tamil prince from the Chola Kingdom, who had invaded the Kingdom of Rajarata in 205 BC. Dutugamunu also expanded and beautified the city of Anuradhapura and projected the power of his native Rajarata region across the island of Sri Lanka.Written by

I recommend all the Sri Lankans that this is a must watch movie as this is as close as I've seen in Sinhala Cinema for a masterpiece.
I have to say this is by far the best Sri Lankan movie I have watched to date. First of all the movie makes you proud to be a Sri Lankan. You get the patriotic feelings that will put a tear in your eye. From the movie perspective the sound editing is top notch. It makes the movie so intense and melodramatic at the same time. Since this is a well known story and the scope is so vast, the creator has done a marvellous job in composing it within 3 hours capturing all the essentials without skipping the finer points of the story that brings it so much colour.Acting was superb as you expect from veterans like Jackson Anthony and Sriyantha Mendis and co. The movie was so heart-warming that I have watched it twice in 2 days and planning to go one more time. I recommend all the Sri Lankans that this is a must watch movie as this is as close as I've seen in Sinhala Cinema for a masterpiece.
