Thea Holmes, stand-in for her friend, movie star Lexi Cunningham, is poisoned on the set of a horror movie being made on the island. Whilst Thea served time years earlier for a mugging gone wrong Goodman believes the intended victim was actually Lexi. Screen-writer Arnold Finch openly dislikes her and had looked up poisons online whilst Lexi was about to expose director Carl Collins' affair to his wife. After another suspect seemingly commits suicide the case appears to be closed but Goodman uncovers a deception which leads to the murderer. He also tells Camille that his wife has left him. I don't get the level of hate going on for this episode, personally I enjoyed it.
Great start, definitely a little different, nicely set up, well acted, looked great, of course it looked great, it's Death in Paradise.
Peter Davison's appearance here, I may be biased as a Dr Who fan, and suggest that he's the most well known face here, question is, as they sometimes do on the show, would he be the killer? Would they go for the big name......
Michelle Ryan is great here, a very good and energetic performance from her.
DI Goodman, even in 2020 I still miss Richard Poole so badly, Humphrey didn't have the greatest of starts, but he would get better, quite frankly they made him too much of an idiot here, but he was boosted by the awesome team.
Irritations with Goodman apart, I liked it. 7/10.
