Storyline

Singer/Songwriters from all over the world are drawn to Nashville, TN, for the opportunity to 'make it' in Music City, USA. As of this date, there are over 55,000 songwriters living in Nashville. On my very first two-month pilgrimage in 2009, I played my original music at open mic and writer's nights all over town, and met some incredible musicians, and more importantly, they were all amazing people. A couple years later, I decided to return to Nashville to make a film documenting their journeys. I have since made four trips back to shoot and edit, and the project is still coming together. This film showcases 11 songwriters, and spotlights a few more. Hey, I didn't have time to interview all 55,000. Written by Stacey K. Black

True, Honest and Incredibly Powerful
30 December 2017 | by steelstringcowboySee all my reviews

This film is extraordinary in so many ways.

First, if you ever wondered what it takes to make it as a songwriter in the legendary Nashville, here is the truth laid out for you through the stories of some incredible talents who continue to push themselves day by day to make it.

Second, if you love good music, this documentary is a source of some of the best songs you have never heard in your life but will remember for a lifetime.

Finally, and perhaps what is most special about this portrait, is the way it tells the stories of the artists. It is so true and honest that I felt like I was up close and personal with people whom I couldn't help but call friends by the time I was through the film.

This is story telling at its best.
