Storyline

'Stories from Tohoku' explores the lives of several survivors of the worst disaster to hit Japan since Hiroshima. Dealing with the fallout from the tsunami, earthquake and nuclear crisis, this film reveals the unexpected bonds formed between the survivors and the Japanese Americans who felt compelled to help. In their desire to offer assistance, the Americans never dreamed that they would also benefit by learning about their ancestry, cultural values, and Japanese philosophy of dealing with life under the most adverse conditions.
