I never realized the pens were so HUGE!
19 January 2015 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

This second episode of "Nazi Mega Weapons" is about what was probably the most successful aspect of the Third Reich's military--the submarines. This I knew, being a retired history teacher. However, what I didn't realize is just how amazingly huge and bomb-proof the pens were that the Germans built to supply and repair these ships. It boggles the mind just how big they are and you see that some of them are STILL in use today. After all, they are just about impossible to remove, so you might as well use them! The show is, more than anything else, about engineering these marvels and the documentary is unusual-- as very few ever talk about the subs and fewer still discuss the pens built during the war to house them. All in all, well written, well presented and fascinating. A must for any WWII buff.
