Sex & Nudity

  • Lupe the Goat had a few lines with mild innuendo in one scene, where she looks over Ferdinand's bottom, and says "A plus on the plank, mama like that" in an admiring way.

Violence & Gore

  • The main character is a fighting bull.
  • One bull loses it's horn and is sent to a slaughterhouse
  • Ferdinand finds a room full of swords, and pictures of bulls that the matador fought along with their horns.
  • A bug is beheaded.
  • A horse gets electrocuted in a challenge. Played for laughs.


  • General namecalling, "flower boy", "puny", "bag of bones", "loser", the transitive verb "sucks" is used once.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene where Guapo gets sent to the slaughterhouse can be frightening for kids. But, he is later seen again and he is okay.
  • Ferdinand's dad gets sent off to fight a matador, but when the truck comes back it was empty, and later, Ferdinand finds a room full of swords and pictures of bulls, including his father along with their horns, this scene can be frightening for young kids.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ferdinand and the bull fighter are fighting in an arena, and Ferdinand tosses the bull fighter out of the ring, but he comes back in and angrily tries to attack him with spears, and strikes Ferdinand in the shoulder, where a little bit of blood is visible. He then pulls out a sword in an attempt to kill him. However, the crowd responded and told him to let Ferdinand live. But this scene can be intense for a lot of young viewers.
  • The fight between Valiente and Ferdinand can be a bit intense for younger kids
