Matt Nix Re-Ups With 20th Century Fox TV Ahead of ‘The Gifted’ Debut
Matt Nix has inked a new deal with 20th Century Fox Television, Variety has learned.

Nix is behind the studio’s upcoming Marvel drama series “The Gifted,” which is a huge priority for both 20th and Fox.

Under the new two-year pact, Nix will continue to serve as showrunner and executive producer on “The Gifted,” and will be able to develop new projects with the studio.

“Matt is one of our most important writers at this studio and it’s no accident that he is the creator and showrunner of one of this fall’s biggest priorities for the network – and our studio’s first collaboration with Marvel– in ‘The Gifted,'” said Jonnie Davis, president of creative affairs at 20th Century Fox TV. “Michael and the development team love working with him, because in addition to being a brilliant procedural writer who is also expert at genre, he’s also a terrific guy. Showtime's Shameless is adding a new face for its upcoming eighth season.

Gossip Girl grad Jessica Szohr has booked a season-long recurring arc on the dramedy starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum.

Szohr will play Nessa, a strong, tough and smart lesbian who is a tenant in Fiona's (Rossum) newly purchased apartment building. The duo will develop a strong friendship.

Jason O'Mara Is The New "S.H.I.E.L.D." Chief

Jason O'Mara ("The Good Wife," "Complications") has joined the cast of ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." in a key role - as the director of the titular organisation.

Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson revealed in the final minutes of the third season finale that the organization had a new director, O'Mara taking on that part which is said to be a character whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s.

Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb says: "Bringing Jason into the mix as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the agency. Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent."

The new season of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres on September 20th.

Into the Badlands: AMC Drama Taps Turn Writer for Season Two

Shameless scribe, Latoya Morgan, late of Turn: Washington's Spies, has signed on to pen the second season of the Into the Badlands TV show on AMC. According to Deadline, Morgan has inked a two-year overall deal with AMC, to work on existing shows and develop new series. Morgan previously wrote for the Complications TV series, which was cancelled after one season on USA Network.

The Into the Badlands TV series cast includes: Daniel Wu, Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Oliver Stark, Madeleine Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marton Csokas, and Benjamin Papac. The second season of this futuristic marital arts drama, created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, should premiere on AMC in 2017.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Hulu comedy pilot “Future Man” has found its female lead in “Happy Endings” alum Eliza Coupe. Coupe will star as Tiger, a soldier and character in the video game “Cybergeddon.” Tiger recruits Josh Hutcherson’s Josh Futterman, a janitor who is a world-ranked gamer, to travel back in time and save the world.

The zombies in AMC's Fear The Walking Dead are gaining ground as the calendar creeps closer to April 10th, the season two premiere date that will mark the return of faces both familiar and fresh. Today, two new actors were announced to appear in the second season of The Walking Dead companion series, while Fox's The Rocky Horror Picture Show reboot also added a new cast member.

TVLine reports that Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove) has joined Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 in a recurring role. Details on his character have yet to be revealed, but there is speculation that he will portray "Casey, a decent man who believes in civility”, someone who "is confident in an unexpected position of authority." "Complications," "Hindsight" Both Cancelled

"Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix's medical drama "Complications" for the USA Network has been cancelled. Jason O'Mara starred in the series as a doctor who becomes involved in a gang war after the death of his daughter.

It and "Mr. Robot" were the two new series the network launched this past summer. 'Robot' has already been picked up for second season and has been generating a lot of buzz, "Complications" never really took off.

With the network set to offer strong new dramas like "Colony" and "Queen of the South" shortly, the series isn't being given a chance to continue.

The doctor is out. There won't be a second season of the Complications TV show. USA Network has decided to cancel the drama series after one season of 10 episodes.

Complications follows a disillusioned suburban doctor (Jason O'Mara) who's still dealing with the emotional effects of his young daughter's death from cancer. He unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a 12-year-old boy's life.
