‘Turner & Hooch’ TV Series In Works At Disney+ From Matt Nix
The classic 1989s buddy cop comedy feature Turner & Hooch is getting a TV series treatment for Disney+. I have learned that the Disney streaming platform is working on a Turner & Hooch TV series adaptation from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and 20th Century Fox TV where Nix is under an overall deal.

Details about the series are scarce, but it is believed to be keeping the premise of the original movie, which starred Tom Hanks, and also revolves around a police detective and his dog, I hear. The TV series had been in the works for awhile. It has been gathering momentum recently, and I hear it is heating up for a green light. Reps for Disney+ and 20th TV would not comment.

Matt Nix Sci-Fi Drama ‘The Pioneer’ Based On Book In Works At NBC

Exclusive: NBC is developing The Pioneer, a futuristic drama from Burn Notice and The Gifted creator Matt Nix, Temple Hill and 20th Century Fox TV, part of Disney TV Studios. It is based on Bridget Tyler’s book of the same name.

Written by Nix and Tyler, The Pioneer centers on Alice Watson. Still struggling with the aftermath of a tragic accident that killed her son, Alice and her headstrong daughter Joanna will have to overcome their emotional trauma when they find themselves unexpectedly pivotal in the survival of their family, and their colony, after the arrival on their new planet does not go according to plan.

Derek Theler, Beth Riesgraf and Lamont Thompson are set as series regulars in Paramount Network’s drama 68 Whiskey, an adaptation of Israeli TV series Charlie Golf One, from Imagine Television Studios, the TV arm of Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, and CBS TV Studios. Additionally, Usman Ally, Artur Benson and Aaron Glenane (Picnic at Hanging Rock) are set for recurring roles. They join previously announced cast members Sam Keeley, Gage Golightly, Cristina Rodlo, Jeremy Tardy and Nicholas Coombe. Production on season 1 is currently underway with the series scheduled to premiere on Paramount Network in early 2020.

Emmy winner Niecy Nash is set to star in Kidnapped: The Kamiyah Mobley Story, the first movie greenlit by Lifetime under the Robin Roberts Presents movie and documentary banner, from Rock’n Robin and Lincoln Square Productions. Production is currently underway on the movie, executive produced by award-winning journalist Roberts, and is slated for premiere in 2020/

Also starring Rayven Symone Ferrell (The Hate U Give) and Ta’Rhonda Jones (Empire), Kidnapped: The Kamiyah Mobley Story is the true story of a young woman who discovers at age 18, she was abducted as a baby and the family she knew to be hers, wasn’t hers at all. The film will be followed by a companion documentary featuring the real-life people depicted in the movie.

Netflix Hires Sarah Geismer As Drama Series Executive

Sarah Geismer has joined Netflix’s Original Series team where she will work on drama series, reporting to Jinny Howe.

Geismer comes to Netflix from 20th Century Fox TV where she served as VP of comedy development for the past two years and worked on such projects as the upcoming comedy series Single Parents on ABC and Cool Kids on Fox.

Geismer segued to 20th TV after a seven-year stint at Fox’s cable production divisions. She began as an assistant and was promoted to the executive ranks at Fox TV Studios. Geismer then continued at Fox 21 Television Studios following the merger of FtvS and Fox 21. She has overseen a mix of comedy and drama projects including Maron, Sirens, The Comedians, Complications, Burn Notice, Graceland, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Showtime’s The Chi and Fox’s take on The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Jason O'Mara Is The New "S.H.I.E.L.D." Chief

Jason O'Mara ("The Good Wife," "Complications") has joined the cast of ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." in a key role - as the director of the titular organisation.

Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson revealed in the final minutes of the third season finale that the organization had a new director, O'Mara taking on that part which is said to be a character whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s.

Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb says: "Bringing Jason into the mix as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the agency. Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent."

The new season of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres on September 20th.

Into the Badlands: AMC Drama Taps Turn Writer for Season Two

Shameless scribe, Latoya Morgan, late of Turn: Washington's Spies, has signed on to pen the second season of the Into the Badlands TV show on AMC. According to Deadline, Morgan has inked a two-year overall deal with AMC, to work on existing shows and develop new series. Morgan previously wrote for the Complications TV series, which was cancelled after one season on USA Network.

The Into the Badlands TV series cast includes: Daniel Wu, Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Oliver Stark, Madeleine Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marton Csokas, and Benjamin Papac. The second season of this futuristic marital arts drama, created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, should premiere on AMC in 2017.

"Complications," "Hindsight" Both Cancelled

"Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix's medical drama "Complications" for the USA Network has been cancelled. Jason O'Mara starred in the series as a doctor who becomes involved in a gang war after the death of his daughter.

It and "Mr. Robot" were the two new series the network launched this past summer. 'Robot' has already been picked up for second season and has been generating a lot of buzz, "Complications" never really took off.

With the network set to offer strong new dramas like "Colony" and "Queen of the South" shortly, the series isn't being given a chance to continue.

Complications: Cancelled by USA; No Season Two

The doctor is out. There won't be a second season of the Complications TV show. USA Network has decided to cancel the drama series after one season of 10 episodes.

Complications follows a disillusioned suburban doctor (Jason O'Mara) who's still dealing with the emotional effects of his young daughter's death from cancer. He unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a 12-year-old boy's life. The rest of the cast includes Jessica Szohr, Lauren Stamile, Chris Chalk, Beth Riesgraf, and RonReaco Lee.
