Ragnar supports King Horik in his land dispute with Jarl Borg. Rollo, seeking to differentiate himself from his brother, supports Borg. In the ensuing battle, Ragnar and Horik are victorious and Borg settles his dispute and accepts a promise to be included in their next raid on England. Ragnar returns home with his brother in chains but the Lawgiver spares his life. He decides to leave the village but Siggy Haraldson convinces him to stay. Ragnar's wife Lagertha learns of his tryst with Princess Auslag who arrives at the village unexpectedly. She is also visibly pregnant. Ragnar feels compelled to care for Auslag and their unborn child and Lagertha leaves. Young Bjorn must choose as well.
