Q has long been attached to the lead role of Ching Shih in the miniseries, which follows the notorious Chinese prostitute turned pirate and crime boss who ultimately commanded 100,000 sailors and 1500-plus vessels. Francois Arnaud ("The Borgias") has scored the male lead opposite Maggie Q in the limited series "Red Flag" which begins production this fall in Malaysia.

Q plays Ching Shih, a beautiful young Chinese prostitute in the early 1800s who goes on to become one of history's most powerful pirates and head one of the most successful crime syndicates in China.

Arnaud plays Carlito, the Portuguese sailor and bounty hunter engaged to hunt down and capture Ching Shih at any cost, only to end up becoming her lover. [Source: Deadline]

Francois Arnaud (The Borgias) is set as a male lead opposite Maggie Q in Red Flag, a limited series from Steven Jensen’s Independent Television Group, Mike Medavoy & Benjamin Anderson of Phoenix Pictures (Black Swan), and Fred Fuchs (Transporter). It is set in the early 1800s and centers on Ching Shih (Maggie Q), a beautiful young Chinese prostitute who goes on to become one of history’s most powerful pirates and head one of the most successful crime syndicates in China. With over 100,000 sailors and 1500-plus vessels, Ching controlled the South China Sea while taking on the Imperial Chinese navy, the Portuguese navy, and the all-powerful British navy to eventually conquer them all. Arnaud, repped by Apa and Management 360, will play Carlito, the Portuguese sailor and bounty hunter engaged to hunt down and capture Ching Shih. He has no loyalty and takes from everybody to kill Ching Shih, and soon becomes her lover.

Maggie Q To Star In Kevin Williamson Pilot

Nikita star Maggie Q is staying in the CBS/Warner Bros family with a lead role in CBS‘ untitled Kevin Williamson drama pilot. Maggie Q will play the female lead opposite Dylan McDermott in the project, from Warner Bros TV, the studio behind CW drama Nikita, which wrapped its run earlier this season. Written by Williamson and directed by Liz Friedlander, the psychological thriller revolves around two detectives, Beth (Maggie Q) and Jack (McDermott), who handle stalking incidents for the Threat Assessment Unit of the Lapd. Detective Beth Davis is the opinionated and obsessive, workaholic division captain of Lapd’s Threat Assessment Unit who also narrates the story. Maggie Q, repped by Untitled and CAA, will next be seen in the Divergent trilogy and in Conspiracy On Jekyll Island. She is also attached to star in event limited Red Flag, about famous Chinese pirate Ching Shih, which is now in development.

Now that Nikita is over and done with, it’s time for Maggie Q to set her eyes on a new iconic female character to bring to life on the TV screen, only this time she’ll be taking on the persona of a woman from China’s history. This new project will be a limited series and may put Maggie Q in line to portray one of the most badass female characters TV has ever seen come to life. If you haven’t heard of this woman, don’t be ashamed. This was the first I’d heard of her exploits and I immediately wished I could no more.

'Archer' and 'Justified' going on Olympics hiatus; 'Fifty Shades' actress joins ABC pilot

- FX is putting a few of its shows on a brief hiatus during the Winter Olympics. "Archer" and "Chozen" will be off for the next two weeks and return Monday, Feb. 24. "Justified" will air Tuesday (Feb. 11) as scheduled but will take the following week off, then return Feb. 25.

- "Fifty Shades of Grey" actress Eloise Mumford will star in ABC's drama pilot "Warriors." Inspired by cases at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, the pilot follows a group of military doctors and nurses as they treat everything from critically wounded soldiers to Washington's elite. Mumford, who previously starred on ABC's "The River," will play Tony Sterling, a psychiatrist recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan and an expert on Ptsd -- and who suffers from a mild case herself.
