Multiple Dimensions: The Creatures & Effects of 'From Beyond' (2013)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This 23-minute featurette has interviews with John Carl Buechler, Anthony Doublin, John Naulin and Mark Shostrom, the make-up wizards behind the film FROM BEYOND. Those familiar with that movie knows there were a lot of effects from puppets to trick photography and other practical effects. The four men do a wonderful job at talking about the budget they had to work with and Buechler tells some great information about the source story and how it really didn't have a clear monster, which allowed them to come up with their own ideas. From here they talk about who did what in regards to the effects and how they did have a bit more money than they did on RE-ANIMATOR. Fans of this film are certainly going to be entertained by this featurette, which does a great job at covering the most memorable special effects in the film. Everyone is clearly very happy about what they were able to create and this does a very good job at showing how it's always a team effort bringing this stuff to life.
