Netflix had 2 amazing shows in their catalogs, so obviously from this point onward is only going to be more and more difficult to live up to the expectations that people will have for their shows. Mike Colter already nailed the role of Luke Cage in Jessica Jones, so I was at least a bit more relaxed when this show was announced. To be honest this show still has me conflicted to this day, unlike the previous shows, Luke Cage seem to suffered form a switch in quality, the first 6 episodes were fantastic, almost as good as DD and JJ, but then episode 7 starts and the quality starts to decline from fantastic to average, is still relatively good but it can't be denied that the second half of the show is weaker than the first and the overall season suffers because of it. Most of the cast does a great job, Colter is one again great as Luke Cage, Simone Missick as Misty Knight was great, Mahershala Ali was fantastic, another great villain from the MARVEL/Netflix shows and I even liked Theo Rossi as Shades, though Erik LaRay Harvey as Diamondback was the weakest part of the show, but I'm not really sure who is to blame here, the actor or the writing, Diamondback was a far less interesting villain, specially compared to Cottonmouth. The musical score and the soundtrack of this show was also fantastic, it had a lot of memorable songs. So while still a great show overall, it fails to reach the heights that Daredevil and Jessica Jones reached because of it's far weaker second half, hopefully season 2 can fix some of those problems.
