Storyline

In Jupiter, Florida in 1951 Elsa Mars rents a farmer's field and sets up the tents for her circus freakshow. She's always on the lookout for new acts and visits the Tattler sisters, Bette and Dot, who are hospitalized after the local milkman finds their mother dead on her kitchen floor. The sisters are perfect for Elsa's show - they are Siamese twins with two heads sharing one body. Elsa sees them as her new headliners. Other acts include Ethel Darling, the bearded lady and her son Jimmy, the Lobster Boy. They group is clearly not welcome in the community and few people are coming to their nightly show. Meanwhile a clown by the name of Twisty is killing people. He's also taken a young boy and a young woman prisoner. Written by garykmcd

Trivia

The musical theme played throughout Season 4 (Freak Show) is taken from the opening notes of the song "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath. It is played an octave or two higher and on violins, however. It is also played during the ending credit sequence of each episode. See more »

In the ending scene when it is revealed that Elsa has legs made of wood we can clearly see the actress' real legs when she removes the stockings before taking off the wooden legs. See more »

This is the most grotesque thing I've seen on television.

It fills me with fear for the fate of humanity that people watch and like this repulsive piece of obscene garbage.

I am ashamed for the talented people who've made this possible.

What have we come to as a culture/society that this awful thing is available for all to see on television, and it is celebrated as something good!

Shouldn't this be something that adults have to buy from a pornographer?

The Roman Colosseum beckons . . .
