Storyline

An inspirational story of redemption, A Rising Tide tells the tale of a young chef, Sam Rama (Hunter Parrish). After the destruction of his family's well-established Atlantic City restaurant during Hurricane Sandy, Sam must grow up quickly, taking the biggest risks of his life, both in business and love. When Sam comes to the aid of a wealthy patron (Tim Daly) and then falls for the newly separated Sarah Bell (Ashley Hinshaw), a chain of unexpected events unfolds for all of them, as they discover the only way to achieve their dreams may be to acknowledge what they owe to others, and realize that the greatest investments take more than cash. Rising or declining?
2 August 2020 | by kosmaspSee all my reviews

Sometimes things take a turn some do not expect. And if that happens because of natural "disasters" ... well some would call that bad luck. Others may think they could have done more to avoid some damage that has been done. And then there are those who have their livelihoods depening on their own business, which might go down/under - no pun intended.

With Corona Virus some owners of Restaurants (if not almost everyone) can surely feel the anxiety and anguish, the main characters feel here. Even if the set of circumstances are quite different. And this adds a love note to it all - apart from family issues, social security, chasing ones dreams, trying to live your life ... you know the usual ... well more or less.

A fine enough drama, if the bigger cynic in you does not win out ...
