- Henry reaches out to his only ally within Langley - Calder. Joan reveals something during her deposition that puts a wedge between herself and Arthur. An old flame reveals she still holds a torch for Auggie.
- Tormented by worries about Annie, Auggie lets his ex back into his bed, as she's doing crucial tailing, but she realizes his heart remains with her rival. Henry needs to deal with the mess concerning his ex and calls a marker on his CIA creature Calder, who however plays a double game with Auggie and Annie, who tips them off about Henry's top-secured Virginia cabin, a raid on which goes badly. Theo and Joan clash over priorities, late Theo, secrecy and career prospects.—KGF Vissers
- Annie steps off a bus, back on American soil.
Helen pounds on Auggie's door at 5:30 in the morning. She's back from Geneva and tells Auggie that Annie was following Henry -- she's alive. She realizes he knew already. It doesn't change the fact Helen wants him back, but he asks what else she learned in Geneva.
Annie steals a motorcycle.
Helen tells Auggie about Henry's call to Nelson, his money guy. Auggie is pleased that Henry sounded rattled, it means Annie's play was working. Helen promises not to tell Joan, Helen of all people, understands what Annie is going through.
Henry requests an off-campus meeting with Calder Michaels, to tell him he's about to hear about the death of an "extremely deep cover operative," Deric Hughes, who reported directly to DCI. His missions were all off-book. Henry tells Calder that Hughes was killed in Geneva by a woman named Jessica Matthews.
Henry says Eric Braithwaite isn't the man for the DCS job, but suggests maybe Calder is if he helps Henry.
Calder comes back to his car to see a note apologizing for a scratch. It's written on the back of a church flyer. Calder heads to the church and finds Annie. He's peeved Annie is contacting him. They compare notes. Annie gives him Andrew Goodman/Deric Hughes' laptop. He tells her to get out of town, because if Henry figures out she's Jessica Matthews, they're both dead.
Later, Calder gives Auggie the laptop, but doesn't tell him it came from Annie. He tells Auggie to analyze it at home.
Annie goes to her storage locker which holds the classic car Auggie gave her, and is looks up Violet Hughes -- she's Deric's daughter.
Helen briefs Joan on her trip and tells her she wants back in to the CIA. Joan says it isn't the time.
At home, Auggie and Eric Barber go through Deric Hughes' laptop looking for anything that mentions Copenhagen or Medellin.
Auggie finds a coded email from one of Henry's operatives, but they need the cipher key to decode it. Barber finds a list of contacts and thinks he can crack it.
Later, Auggie meets with Helen to tell her he found out Nelson's last name is Smith and he's in New York. Auggie thinks Annie might be able to find the source key to decode the message. Auggie asks her to follow Calder to find Annie.
Annie goes to a dorm at George Washington University to talk to Violet. She says she's with a life insurance company, but Violet quickly figures out she's lying and grabs a backpack and heads for the door. Annie correctly guesses that her dad gave it to her and told her to run if anyone asked about him. Annie assures Violet she's not there to hurt her, and asks where her dad told Violet to run to: a cabin at Hillcrest. The man who owns it will supposedly help her.
Annie tells her not to go, it's safer for her here. She promises Violet she won't tell anyone she saw her.
Annie rides out to Hillcrest, to find the cabin. It has surveillance cameras out in the middle of the woods. Annie sneaks around and sees Henry inside.
It's a rustic old log cabin -- with super high tech security. Annie watches as Henry leaves, then takes pictures through the window.
Joan goes home. Arthur learns his trial date is set for six weeks. He wants them both to retestify and tell the truth about Henry to try to sway the prosecution.
Calder gets another flyer for the church on his windshield and speeds there in his sports car. Helen follows. Calder notices and takes off. He doubles back around and comes nose to nose with her car. Helen speeds down the road backwards. He comes to a stop, gets out and pulls his gun. She speeds away backward.
Calder meets Annie at the church and she shows him her cell phone pictures. Calder tells her he was followed. She doesn't think it sounds like Henry. She realizes it must have been someone doing it for Auggie, he would have put two and two together with the laptop. She wants to contact him, but Calder reminds her to follow her own rules.
Joan gives another deposition and is forced to answer that she authorized Annie to torture Teo even when she knew he was Arthur's son.
Calder meets secretly with Auggie to tell him that Annie doesn't want to see him and he has to let her go. "You're putting us all in jeopardy, her most of all," Calder says.
Back in her storage locker, Annie makes herself a new ID and thinks about Auggie.
Joan comes home and has to answer to Arthur about authorizing torture of Teo. She explains she was trying to prevent a terrorist attack.
Auggie gets a text with directions on where to take a city bus. He gets on and Annie sits next to him. She doesn't say anything. She's surprised when he gets off the bus and goes to meet with Helen.
Helen takes him to her cover apartment. She says she doesn't want a cover anymore, she wants a life. She gives him a quick tour. She tells him she lied when she said their marriage was a cover -- one of the lies she had to tell herself to stay dark. He's glad she's alive. She kisses him. It quickly progresses and they end up in bed.
In the morning, Auggie is already full of regret. She knows he's still in love with Annie. He tells her what they had in Rome was real, but for him it's over.
Eric Barber calls Auggie to tell him Calder is leading a team out to a cabin at Hillcrest.
Calder leads a team. They start with disabling the security system, but as soon as they open the security box, the cabin explodes.
Back at Langley, Calder tells Henry he didn't know it was his cabin and he followed Jessica Matthews there. Henry is suspicious and reminds him he wouldn't put anyone in a job that he couldn't get out.
Henry orders Calder to find Jessica Matthews, and not to worry about bringing her in alive.
Calder meets with Annie at her grave to catch her up to speed. He thinks the pressure they're putting on Henry is working. When he asks if she's off to New York to follow Nelson Smith, she says it's better he not know. He gives her a gun with no serial number. "It's not a question of if he finds you, it's a question of when," he says.
When Calder leaves, Annie hears a noise. She draws her gun and orders whoever it is to come out. Helen steps out. She asks Annie if she has any info on a source key for the email, but Annie doesn't. Helen tells Annie that Auggie's still in love with her and if she has any desire to come back, she shouldn't wait too long.
Henry checks his security footage at the cabin and sees "Jessica Matthews" creeping around, but never sees her face.
Calder comes to Auggie's apartment with the photos Annie took through the cabin widows. They're looking at book titles for a key to the email. The Bible in French strikes them both, Calder remembers Deric Hughes had the same thing.
At tech gives Henry the surveillance footage from a bridge near Hillcrest, which shows Annie arriving. They zoom in until they have the motorcycle plate. (Annie has a helmet on so he can't tell it's her.)
Back at Auggie's apartment, the algorithm to crack the email finishes working. It's from Deric Hughes and says: "Stinger secured. Need ten million more for Copenhagen. Old account not viable. Send new instructions to receive funds."
It's the proof that Deric was involved, but they still need to link Henry.
Annie rides her stolen motorcycle to the bus terminal and buys a ticket to New York. Henry walks up to the bike outside as Annie goes to board the bus. He walks inside and follows her out to the bus. Annie gets a bad feeling and walks around the front of a bus. Henry follows, but then sees a woman with dark hard and similar clothes behind him in the bus's review mirror. He turns around. It's Helen Hansen.
She can't bother hiding. She tells him she knows he's guilty for what happened in Copenhagen, Medellin and Geneva and that he'll never get Sana back.
He calls her Jessica Matthews.
She pauses for a moment and then says, yes, she is. She's telling him it doesn't matter, they have enough to get him, when he pulls out a gun with a silencer on it and shoots her. They're between two parked buses in the dark, and no one sees.
On the bus as it pulls away, Annie sees Henry standing over a body. She gets off the bus and sees who it is.
Later, she goes to Auggie's apartment. She knocks, but starts to walk away. They stand there, on opposite sides of the door.
