California has passed a legislature that allows people to carry registered concealed weapons. "The Unkindest Cut" author Joe Queenan and Daryl Gates, former L.A.P.D. Police Chief, agree that personal safety is most important and since the government continuously fails to sufficiently protect the people, this might not be such a bad decision. Maher, SNL comedian Kevin Nealon and Star trek Voyager's Kate Mulgrew are against the decision. Nealon, irreverent as ever, believes that everything should be resolved through humor, while Melgrew says that, even though she herself was a victim of a brutal attack in New York once and wanted to kill the guy at the time, she doesn't believe in violence and is glad that she didn't have a gun on her back then. Bill then asks about the bizarre trend, especially among the Baby boomer generation, of having a personal life coach. He and others find it to be bizarre or silly, while Kate sees it as a manifestation of lonely people's natural need to have somebody around them.
