Willkommen bei Habib (2013)

There are those days, after which nothing is like it was before: four completely different men learn this the hard way. A sad, yet funny film about the luck of losing and a yearning for home that is greater than any country.

Four men's destinies slam into each other and intertwine on four balmy summer nights. Old wounds are reopened, new ones appear, unexpectedly there is a new closeness. And, when the sun rises over the city and the striking garbage men, finally ensure German order again, nothing is the same for these four men. A film about missed chances and a quality of homesickness which is greater than any country. Written by INDI FILM

Been there (?)

After the Avengers (2012) made Stuttgart somewhat popular - probably only to those who live(d) there - here is a movie that mainly plays in this city. If you've ever been here, you will recognize a lot of places depicted in this movie. There are new "buildings", like the Habib from the title, that doesn't exist, but other than that, you get the real deal (which you didn't in Avenger).

But this is a drama with comedic moments, one that does work because of the actors involved and because it is slow paced. Something you have to get used to to enjoy the movie. It might be a bit too long running time wise and some things might only be accessible to people who have been in this city, but overall this is more than a decent effort.
