50 Cent requested some measure of artistic control over the show from Starz executives. These requests particularly pertained to the spelling and usage of the N word in written scripts, memos, and notes. He requested the word be spelled "nigga" as opposed to its traditional spelling and that only black actors use the word unless approved by him or his manager. 50 Cent also wanted some artistic control over how the relations between white police officers and black or Hispanic citizens were portrayed. He wanted the show to reflect how he felt about the issue without being inflammatory. This was prophetic due to the real-life Furguson incident, which occurred toward the end of season 1. See more
