Quotes

Charlotte Clarke: If I had my wish, that distraction would be over with now. Anyway, I'm out. My mother has summoned the entire family to breakfast to discuss the impending nuptials.
[ironic:]
Charlotte Clarke: I am so looking forward to seeing my father.
Jack Porter: You're not serious.
Charlotte Clarke: Actually, while I detest him more than ever, he and I have had a reconciliation of sorts.
[Jack sighs]
Charlotte Clarke: It's for a good reason.
Jack Porter: There's no good reason. How did he manipulate you?
Charlotte Clarke: He didn't. I manipulated him, and I did it to protect you.

Emily VanCamp magnificent as the embattled main character
1 November 2017 | by RavenGlamDVDCollectorSee all my reviews

Emily Thorne is the epitome of Dissolution here, as the cracks start to show as all the stress takes its toll. I've inadvertently seen the title of the series finale, I won't repeat it here, but remember, way back in the pilot episode, there was that unspoken quote by Confucious, something like "when embarking on a journey of revenge, dig two graves, one for yourself" and I keep wondering, what's gonna happen? Will Emily survive? I personally don't think she should, what reason would she have for a meaningless life after having sacrificed herself along the way on her path of revenge? Bear in mind what she had to do. She doesn't love Daniel, it's becoming clear since the Second Season that she loathes him, so what is the price of her revenge if she has to...? You get my drift. Which is why I don't go for Emily Thorne as a heroine. Emily VanCamp is unsettling in the part of Emily Thorne, there are comical moments when you can see the bile rising up in her throat as she has to keep herself in check with Conrad (ep. 3.4) and Victoria (ep. 3.5) just before the imposing main credits, but overall, the character is such a sad sad sad case when you think about it, which is why I am not as ga-ga about REVENGE as I am about DYNASTY the original. Christa Allen of course gets my vote BUT THEN, I've been yakking about that week after week, you all know that.

I have to give credit where credit is due. Both female leads are magnificent, and by the way, Henry Czerny, just in case nobody else has ever complimented you, THAT MAN GIVES LIFE TO THAT CHARACTER. Conrad has a way of hissing like a cornered snake, and that's a masterfully malevolent performance.

Few people would agree with me, but every time that Aiden appears on the screen, I see him as excess baggage, a character that is the very symbol of a plot contrivance that caused serious limping ever since the advent of Season Two.

And enough with all the kissy-kissy men. That really ruined Nolan for me, and wasted Patrick. So off with new boy, good riddance!
