A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero

So I'm watching this show, and while I like the premise, I'm getting pissed off at the absolute moronic, pansy of a main character every two minutes. He's exploring a dungeon, talking about wanting to be a hero. But he spends more time on his ass than on his feet, where he's constantly falling backwards from getting scared, even when he's inside a barrier. I just watched him read a description that said "Gain invisible power at the cost of MP," and he says " What does that mean??" Jesus! I know that anime characters are written to not be the brightest bulbs, especially male leads (for some reason), but this kid takes the cake. He's in my top 3 least favorite MC's, for sure Gahhh! I have literally been fast-forwarding through half of each episode so that I don't have to watch so much idiocy!
