Mud Lotus is disturbingly beautiful and ugly at the same time. The scenery and the quality of light is overwhelmingly peaceful and uplifting. The characters are struggling and hurt. At first it seems to be a simple film about a weird occurrence in rural Indiana. But with each passing day since watching it, I wonder more about what happened and what it all means. It is a rare film that is powerful enough and well enough created to do this to me. I can't wait to watch it again for details I may have missed. For greater insight. For more questions from the angry scenes and more of the peace of those sunlit, calm scenes.
