James Gunn Loves His Suicide Squad 2 Script More Than Anything Else He's Written
The script for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has received some high praise from, well, James Gunn. The filmmaker behind the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is hard at work filming his latest movie, which he wrote and is also directing. Be that as it may, those looking forward to seeing the revamped version of Task Force X will be happy to know Gunn thinks this screenplay is some of his best work to date.

James Gunn likes to engage with his fans on social media. Recently, he held an impromptu Q&a over on Instagram. One fan asked what his favorite screenplay that he's written so far is. Gunn couldn't pick a favorite movie overall, but he did single out The Suicide Squad, specifically, for its script. Here's what he had to say about it.

"My favorite screenplays you mean? I love the movies I directed all the same,

‘Birds of Prey’ Misfires With $33.7 Million Debut, DC’s Worst Opening in a Decade

‘Birds of Prey’ Misfires With $33.7 Million Debut, DC’s Worst Opening in a Decade
The box office got an unpleasant surprise this weekend as Warner Bros./DC’s “Birds of Prey” has fallen well short of expectations and posted a $33.2 million opening weekend from 4,236 screens, the worst start for a DC Comics adaptation since “Jonah Hex” in 2010.

Heading into the weekend, the new film starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was expected by trackers to at least match the $53.5 million opening weekend of “Shazam!” a pre-summer release with a similar production budget of slightly under $100 million. Warner Bros. was projecting a more conservative $45 million start. Reception for the film suggested that “Birds of Prey” should have easily made that target, holding an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score with a B+ on CinemaScore and 4/5 on Postrak.

‘Birds of Prey’ Lays an Egg at Box Office, Set for Worst DC Opening Since ‘Jonah Hex’

  • The Wrap
‘Birds of Prey’ Lays an Egg at Box Office, Set for Worst DC Opening Since ‘Jonah Hex’
Despite strong critical and audience reception, Warner Bros./DC’s “Birds of Prey” is proving not to be the February box office success industry observers had hoped. The film posted a $33.2 million opening from 4,236 screens — the lowest start for a DC Comics adaptation since the $5.3 million opening of the box office bomb “Jonah Hex” in 2010.

Heading into the weekend, trackers had been projecting an opening weekend of $55 million while Warner Bros. was more conservative with a $45 million start. An opening at that lower figure might not have been the foundation for a particularly strong February box office, but still would have been a decent return on investment for Warner. Reports on the budget for “Birds of Prey” have varied but have tended to be around $85-95 million.

America's Got Talent: The Champions: Are the Right Acts Going to the Finals?
America’s Got Talent: The Champions kicked off its Season 2 semifinals on Monday, ultimately eliminating half of the show’s remaining 12 acts. But before we get to the results, let’s break down this week’s dirty dozen…

JJ Pantano | I still don’t understand the appeal of this seven-year-old insult comic, and the tiny Australian bully did nothing to change my mind with his obnoxious semifinals routine. Were his jokes about Heidi Klum dating younger men supposed to be funny? Or his uninspired belittling of Alesha Dixon? I’m honestly at a loss. I know I’m not supposed to make fun of children,

‘Spenser Confidential’ Trailer: Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke Team Up in Netflix Action Comedy

Cue Scooby-Doo flashback…

I was attending Comic-Con in San Diego; it was the early 90’s, and I was a much different person than I am today. I was as they say Happy Go Lucky and Gay. Always upbeat and ready for whatever adventure awaited me.

Now?

The only word that still applies from Happy Go Lucky and Gay is gay. I’m still gay and Black. I’m a lesbian— I like women.

I’d just finished a panel when I was approached by this young white kid. And I do mean white. Without saying a word, this kid screamed baseball, apple pie, and Chevrolet. When he reached me, I said: “Look without a blood test, you’ll never be able to prove I’m your father.” I didn’t say that, but it’s true.

I actually said, “What’s up, Opie?” He just looked at me. “You’re a long way from Mayberry,
