Disney took, in my opinion, the best show to ever be written & turned it into a sci-fi version of High School Musical. I'm truly disappointed. The actors are perfect, the set design & costumes are amazing, however the writing is cheesy at best. Its just so childish and corny. They took a family friendly grown up show & turned it into a "Disney Channel" kid's comedy. The Doctor is a leader, he's a character that has been around longer than we can imagine & has knowledge & abilities to match. He's a leader & a problem solver. These writers have turned him into a sobbing, clueless man, who completely lacks leadership skills. All the while randomly breaking out in song. It's cheap & shallow, lacking the complexities that made the previous Dr. Who's so magical.

The story is pointless, flat, contradictory, boring and embarrassing. The healing and wise Doctor known as the preserver of values, life and the saviour of the Earth and the universe has mutated into a leading figure in a third-rate Punch and Judy show. Just as the Doctor has completely lost his grandeur and wisdom, the story has lost its brilliance. Where has the genius gone that in the series' heyday manifested itself in brilliant speeches, in exposing social and societal inequalities (when he uncovered the Ood scandal, for example) and ultimately through the wit, charm, cleverness and compassion of the main character? The Doctor has degenerated into a puppet, a shadow of his former self.
As a big fan of Doctor Who, I must express my deep disappointment with the new season. To be honest, it doesn't even feel like Doctor Who anymore. I had high hopes for Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, as I find him to be a brilliant actor. His performance, along with Millie's, is not the issue. The fault lies entirely with the production team.
The dialogue and plot is painfully bland, lacking the intelligence, wittiness, depth, and big thinking that have always been the hallmarks of Doctor Who and the reasons I fell in love with the show. Instead, we are left with something that feels like Disney-esque, slapstick, easy entertainment. This transformation makes the show hardly worth watching anymore.
I deeply hope that the production will improve and bring back the Doctor Who we love. And if not, that the other Doctor Who, who was left when Ncuti and David split in two, will be revived after his vacation and rest with family, and give us back our Doctor. Thank you.

Four episodes in and I had high hopes of the new series after the specials and Tennant reminding us of who The Doctor should be.
I don't either hate or love the nu-nu-who, I'm just indifferent, I don't care anymore.
It feels like a long-term relationship where gradually you realise that the two of you have grown apart. No matter how much you try, how much you want to make it work, the spark is gone.
I don't feel it's the fault of the actors, it's the overall approach to the show. If RTD and Disney are trying for a whole new younger fan-base then maybe they'll get it - I wouldn't know, I'm too old 'my' Doctor was Tom Baker, of the reboot Doctors it's between Tennant and Smith, probably with Smith just edging it.
I think it's time for me to end my love affair with Dr Who, there will always be a place in my heart for it and I may even occasionally visit but my feelings of commitment and connection have gone. I hope you find a new lover Doctor, someone that loves you as you are now. Don't worry about me Doctor I'll be fine, we had a great time together but it's time for me to move on - or perhaps I'll stay single and just reminice about the old days with Tom and Jon on the iPlayer while sobbing gently and considering getting an 11th cat.
I don't think anything can replace you, so I'll be better on my own, it's sad but these things happen. All the best for the future eh? Oh and by the way, I'm keeping K9.

I saw someone say that doctor who is ruined now because of fart jokes and tried to compare space babies with father day forgetting that the Sletheen were from the same series. People are complaining about things that made doctor who such a unique show in the first place. Did everyone just forget about the happiness patrol? The enemy of the world? Everyone hating on the new doctor who episodes like it totally didn't take 6 episodes before we actually got a good doctor who episode with Dalek. Doctor who too childish now? Have any of you actually watched the show because a lot of people are complaining about things that have always been in doctor who like they've only just started to do. Not every episode is like midnight or turn left. For every wimping angel we've got fat that kills. For every Dalek we have the doctors twin. I've always found that the worst part of doctor who is the fandom and it's so ironic to me how the show all about Change is being shown to people who hate change of any kind and honestly the hypocrisy is unreal. People can not like individual episodes but hating on an entire new era just because of a couple of medocure episodes is insane to me. We don't hate the entirety of David Tennant run because it has fear her in it. So why do it here?!

OK I'm in. Took a while for our new doctor to settle in and (apologies) this series didn't necessarily lead with its strongest episodes; but effectively this is a new show and everything new deserves its chance to establish itself.
It took me a while to adjust to Ruby and our new Doctor, but hey we've been here before, a little bit of patience (and dare I say TIME) and the greatness of this show starts to re-emerge.
Personally I'd like to see the sonic device revert to its traditional screwdriver origins, and I like each doctor to have their own costume - regardless of place and time - but I guess I can live with it.
More episodes like 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble and this is a winner of a series.
Speaking of Bubble, I've got to go now as there seems to be something wrong with mine. Many of my friends are offline for some reason...

I could not complain about the actors if I tried they are great and the beginning of episode 4 almost felt like Doctor Who, but this is not Doctor Who it is Disney. This is very, very much Disney and not in a good way. I have loved Doctor Who for many years so I am going to force myself to watch this season and hope it gets better or there will be a miracle and the next season will at least capture a bit of the essence that makes Doctor Who, Doctor Who, but we will see. I do like Ruby, she kind of reminds me of Rose, though I understand that she's only supposed to be in the first season........

As a long-time fan, Doctor Who has always held a special place in my heart, and this series does not disappoint. Admittedly, the first two episodes might seem a bit slow or even silly to some, but they serve an essential purpose: they introduce the Doctor, the unique world-building, and the intricate lore that make this show so captivating.
Once you get past those initial episodes, the series truly takes off. Episodes three and four are nothing short of phenomenal, with episode four standing out as one of the best episodes of any TV series I've watched recently. It delivered a perfect blend of contentment and completeness, leaving a lasting impression.
One of the aspects I love most about Doctor Who is its approach to politics and history. The show doesn't shy away from tackling complex themes and weaving them into its narrative, which adds depth and intrigue. The world-building is top-notch, creating a sense of mystery and anticipation that keeps you hooked.
If you're looking for a show to watch casually, Doctor Who is a great choice. Just be patient with the first couple of episodes; they set the stage for the mind-blowing adventures that follow. Embrace the silliness, and you'll be rewarded with a rich, emotionally connected experience that only Doctor Who can provide.

Many are being unfairly dismissive of the whole season, and some just can't take anything speaking to any wrongs. Not all of the episodes are bad. Many do seem incomplete and lack some of the "edge of the seat" type feelings.
Ncuti and companion have good chemistry. However the Doctor has cried too much and it's ridiculous. The writing has the Doctor running away more than seems usual, and being overly scared. He is missing some of the qualities that make him a strong and resilient Time Lord, that has come against some of the most powerful beings.
The writing is a little heavy on the Doctor being sexual and his attractions. The episodes and the character need more work, but there are often growing pains. The actors appear to be doing the best with what they have been given.

I am about the same age as Dr Who, that is when the series started, and while through the years despite the cheap special effects and wobbly sets the story lines were pretty good, it appeared to have a knack for catering to all audiences young and old. This Disney influenced series has gone in a completely different direction. I remember Lost in Space's "The Great Vegetable Rebellion" and how awful that was, or the dreadful "Star Trek Strange New Worlds" singalong episode, this version of Dr Who seems that way for every episode. Maybe I'm just getting old and in order for shows like Dr Who to keep running they have to be more "commercial" or cater to a different tabloid crowd. No matter, I will rewatch the old episodes whenever I feel an urge for Dr Who.

Having sat through the Chibnall period with gritted teeth, firstly hoping it would get better, then wishing it would, then realising it wouldn't - this is ticking the boxes.
Russell T Davies gets the Doctor we knew that but he is shaking off the dust and helping us to move on from the mess of previous years. It maybe a bit wobbly in places but it's miles better than the previous few series and the writing actually fits the actors - we also haven't had any patronising end sequences like we had under Chibnall especially the Rosa Parks episode (which was OK until the last sequence of the episode).
I'm not sure what people are looking for - all I wanted was a sense of fun and trepidation with suspense and madness thrown in - we have that so I'm happy.
This has firmly shaken off the dust of the previous management and pulled us back to where we should have been at the end of Capaldi's run - thanks RTD long may this continue.

So, another reset, the modern era? The last gasp era.....The Disney era, the latter for me seems the most fitting description.
You can't blame Russell or the powers that be, for wanting to restart to show, and Space Babies very much felt like a reset, almost frustrating for long standing viewers, so many similarities between it and Rose, only Rose was ultimately much better.
I'm going to say I really rate Ncuti, the charisma and facial expressions are really infectious, he's a fine actor, Ruby, can't say I'm blown away, maybe things will change as time goes on.
There's definitely a change up in terms of budget, and you have to admit that it looks very sharp, money is clearly going in.
Is it the big reset everyone had hoped for, the rebirth of the show, following on from Chibnall's time? Unfortunately not from what I can see, it just feels like more of the same.
The rules have definitely changed, the show has moved very much into the era of magic and fantasy, is it a good thing? Time will tell.
After some incredibly disappointing viewing figures, it feels as though viewers don't quite have the same passion for the show.
6/10.

I am 63 years and have followed Dr WHO stories since my third grade primary school. My grandma had an old wardrobe which I as a little boy used as my TARDIS for travelling in time and space. I used our yard as planets which I visited by my TARDIS. Tom Baker was and still is my best Dr. There are few others who rank close to him. NOW if someone wanted to tarnish image and history of Dr. WHO, this new series achieved this goal. I watched and watched with some wishful thinking that things will work out and become better but it was a disaster from beginning to end. Hope for a better Dr WHO series.

The new season is really, really good. Theres a little bit of a rough start- i would say that 73 yards and Dot and Bubble are much better episodes than the first few, but every episode has been fun to watch, with interesting premises and characters. The new season has exactly the qualities of all the other seasons i've loved so much.
Ncuti Gatwa is an absolutely amazing Doctor, and every time he's on screen it's incredible how easy it is to see all the heights of the Doctor's excitement on his face, and still see the depths of an immortal's unending sorrow and rage in the little moments when Ruby isn't looking. He really is a perfect Doctor.
I've been loving the overarching plot of the season too- it's just subtle enough to be hard to notice unless you're paying attention, but it's definitely there.
The way the episodes have tackled important social issues (bluntly to say the least) is classic doctor who, and while i see many people wishing for a little more subtlety, ive really appreciated how little room there is to misconstrue the points being made about equal rights and prejudice. This season's cast of characters is beautifully diverse and openly queer, and it's truly a joy to see characters reflecting my identity take center stage.
The one nitpick i might have is that the pacing of some of the episodes is a little iffy- too much happens in too little time. But to be honest, that's been true of most seasons of doctor who, and ive loved all of them, so it doesnt matter too much to me.

I started out really hating this latest incarnation of Doctor Who. The first four specials seemed especially stupid. All of them try to incorporate a touch of Bollywood with a disproportionate amount of gender bending. Understand, I don't object to either, it just seemed a bit heavy-handed
The same was true for the first four episodes of the series. I was going to give up and watching but I had a few minutes and decided to watch the fifth episode.
That episode, 73 yards, was absolutely amazing! It combined mystery or suspense and a mindbending plot. I hope the remaining episodes follow this standard. If they do then this latest Doctor Who will be as good as any of the previous ones.

I have no intention of babbling on here so I will keep it brief.
Firstly despite some opinions the acting in this new series is good, I would go so far to say there has never been any 'terrible' or 'bad' acting ever, and I mean since William Hartnell as Dr 1.
Second the CGI is just fine as it is, again not 'bad' as some claim.
Thirdly the first stories aren't the greatest but no series of Dr Who has ever had great stories through out, one or two classics in a series but the rest are usually just ok. I
Fourth it is a series aimed at older children, young adults and family audiences so don't expect adult drama and suspense
Finally and most importantly, these are the first stories of a new Doctor, we have barely had time to get to know the characterisation, it can take time to warm to a new person. Especially this new guy who appears to have a sense of humour and a love of living unlike the angst ridden last few incarnations.
Oh I love the fact we have the Doctor and one companion rather than the parade of people we had taking the limelight away from Jodie Whitaker.

That new season of Doctor who is leaving much to be desired in my opinion. It feels as though the series has been rebooted as a children show while, in the same time, being too charged with adult undertones to be that.
It made those two episodes hard to watch. The writing is all over the place, frantic, shallow and preachy at times, and most jokes fell flat. The acting performance wasn't great either. Ncuti Gatwa's felts too whimsical and trying too much to act cool to be convincing as the new doctor.
In the end it didn't really feel like Doctor Who at all to me and I'm worried about the future of that show. It's not in a good place right now and has steadily been going downhill since Peter Capaldi left in my opinion.

I'm really enjoying this season so far! The episodes have had a lot of range in themes and worlds, the acting has been great, and there's been a lot of fun in debating what all the Susan Twist stuff means. Ncuti makes for such a fun Doctor - I can't wait to see where he takes the show during his tenure! My favourite episode so far is definitely Rogue, but I also thought 73 Yards was a great chance for Millie to stand on her own and show us more about her character. I also love the return to having the characters have families - Yaz, Ryan, and Graham were a great start to this with 13, but Ruby's family are great.

I really didn't like the Christmas special at all, it was all over the map tonally. Just didn't gel, characters unlikeable, bad story, sing song bit (!!!) what the hell haha. Did feel extremely childish.
Watched the new season so far and it's not all like this, it's back to interesting, thought provoking and diverse stories. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, a few misfires over the first few episodes, but theres some absolute gems in there so far (looking at you 73 Feet) - it should be patchy and different, that's why I always loved it - you never know what you're in for!
To me, better than the Whittaker era already. Liking the weirdness. Ncuti does overact a bit sometimes as well, but when he hits he absolutely hits and delivers some gut punching moments.
Looking forward to more!

This season is unlike any of Doctor Who seasons before. It lacks storyline, depth, thrill. Doctor Who sings every episode thus far?! Feels like a kids show w mixed with a musical. Absolutely nothing like previous seasons. Don't waste your time trying to watch this. Remember the weeping angels and the library episodes? Not even close in magnitude. The days when of Doctor Who episodes that chilled you to the bone are over... what a shame... what a waste. This is another franchise Disney has killed. Whatever they touch they turn into disaster. Here. I had my rant.
But in whole honesty it is very poorly written.

I won't lie, I was a little wary of Disney taking on the reins to Doctor Who. I worried that they'd sand down the edges, dumb it down, and play safe. And boy, those first two episodes did not alleviate my fears. 4th wall breaks, a tone that was way too cute, and a breeziness that felt way too tame.
But WOW did they turn it around with episodes 3-5. A tension filled bottle episode, a weirdo folk horror fable, and then an absolute gut punch with the ending of Dot and Bubble.
DW has always been inconsistent, so I don't know why I expected differently, but I'm glad to say the show is in safe hands with Davies back at the helm. Is every episode going to blow you away? Nah. But in true Doctor Who fashion, the lows might be low but the highs are SKY HIGH. Ncuti effortlessly slides into the role like a seasoned veteran, Ruby is a wonderful companion, and the storytelling (while inconsistent) delivers on the shocks and twists fans have come to expect.
Rocky start, but this cosmic joyride is really hitting its stride. Excited to see where it goes!

If I were to describe in one word how the New Who looks like it would be "stale". Let's put aside politics and all that stuff and look at actual material itself. Episodes feel so uninspired. I know RTD made some bad episodes doing it's first run, but there was always some sort of charm about them or at least something. It feels like he got his ideas from Chat GPT. I was excited about the second episode because of all the teasers we got, but again it looks so unispired and tacky. But that being said the cast is good, even Maestro had some potential to be great villian but in the end if was kinda eh beacuse of the writing.
To sum up, I would like to quote 10th doctor's famous monologue - "You could do so much more! So much more, and this what I get... Well it's not fair!"
