Jazzy

I expected so much more from this movie.

Coming of age movies are supposed to be sweet or compelling or in any case to mean something, make us feel things.

For the most part I thought they chose the most uninteresting snippets of Jazzy's life and even when the events are significant, to her at least, the approach and the cinematic choices are subpar.

And I debated for a while whether these kids are somehow mentally challenged the way they speak and then I realized they're meant to be 12-13, which was even more confounding. I have seen movies featuring younger kids who were much more articulate and interested in things and interesting. I am not referring to the wise-cracking wise beyond their years kid trope.

If I'm watching a kid, a pre-teen, a teen, there must be something special about them or happening to them. Not the case here.
