Its not a pretty movie. Its captured someplace in Ireland. Gray, cold, damp, desolate, solemn looking place. You hardly see anyone around, which I thought was odd. Gave me that Twilight Zone feel.
The acting is done well. Story is drama filled, with life and its consequences of bad and right decisions. You become the subject looking out to the world in his eyes. He's tenacious, patient and willing to do right thing. But those past habits always seem to be, not so far away. Boxing is thing out there. I figured it was predominately pubs and factories. Which adds historical interest. Its slow paced, but situations keep the interest moving. I would say the movie will be better received from matured audience. People that have lived and encountered similar situations.
Why the pundits gave it 4 stars is beyond me. I would crack it around 7.

Relatable film on the struggles that life throws as we agree. Or a view into what is coming for those not there yet.
Solid acting and good story line. Ex fighter with estranged daughter has traveled down a rabbit hole with no options apart from fighting. Things falling apart at work and his daughter getting into trouble at school, dad's left with no option to take the hard choices that are on offer.. Namely shia labeouf and his Irish roots. The dirty side of life and dodgy dealings can only lead to bad decisions.
A great watch when you have a couple of hours but needs your full attention....

A deeply moving feature debut from the directing duo.
Pitch perfect performances from the entire cast. Shia always subverts expectation, and here he makes Vince a slightly crooked guy with heart. Despite the circumstances of how his life turned out, he cares about his friend.
Been a fan of Toby's since early Black Mirror days and with Sal, he brought a nuanced performance that felt new in the genre and made me root for him.
I was surprised how poetic the film unraveled with visuals and details that made me taste the salt in the air. The sound design brought me into Sal's inner world.
I would have loved another 20 minutes in the final act because I really enjoyed spending time with these characters, flaws and all.
I have a feeling this one will linger with me.

I Just Watched Salvable - And I'm Still Thinking About It
I didn't expect to walk out of Salvable with my chest tight and my thoughts spiraling - but here we are. This film hit me harder than most movies I've seen in years. It's not just a boxing story. It's a life story. And it floored me.
Toby Kebbell plays Sal, a former boxer who's broken in just about every way - physically, emotionally, spiritually. You feel the weight he's carrying in every scene. He's trying to reconnect with his daughter, navigate a mess of a life, and figure out if redemption is even still possible. Kíla Lord Cassidy, who plays his daughter Molly, is phenomenal. There's a scene between them that honestly made me tear up - it was that raw and real.
Then there's Shia LaBeouf as Vince - the wildcard, the old friend with charm and danger dripping off him. He pulls Sal into this underground boxing world, and everything unravels (or maybe finally comes together?). Shia's performance is electric in the way only he can be - unpredictable, intense, and deeply human.
The film is beautifully shot - grimy where it needs to be, but almost poetic at times. You can tell the directors, Björn Franklin and Johnny Marchetta, care about story and character above all else. Nothing here is flashy. It's all grounded. Gritty. Honest.
What I loved most? It doesn't give you easy answers. Life isn't clean. Choices have consequences. And Salvable doesn't try to sanitize that. It leans into the mess - the heartache, the shame, the stubborn hope.
It's the kind of movie that stays with you. I walked in expecting a boxing flick. I walked out feeling like I'd just witnessed someone fighting for their soul.
If you see Salvable this weekend, bring tissues. And maybe call your dad afterward.

Really cool movie !
Dark ,gritty and amazing cinematography. This movie really pulled me in and I was gripped !
Great casting !
Each actor was completely believable The music was great too !
I hope I can buy the soundtrack somewhere as it had a real theme running through every song and totally complimented every scene .
Bjorn Franklins story and directing is top class !
The friendship between actors Toby and Shia character was very moving and made me want to root for both of them to win .
I tough the young 14 year old daughters acting was way beyond her years and deserves attention .
Over all I think this movie is great and will be up for some awards !
