Bernadette and Amy are attending a conference together. Despite being without their regular third, they end up not talking about science but boys like they would usually do with Penny. This discussion takes a bit of a turn that threatens the fun they were having. Raj is still pining over Lucy. As Raj can now at least talk to women, Howard suggests that he go to a graduate student mixer. Since Bernadette is away, Howard even offers to accompany him to be his wing man. At the mixer, Raj makes a connection with an unexpected person. And Penny and Sheldon both miss Leonard, although Sheldon does his best not to admit it. An impromptu telephone call to Leonard makes Penny reevaluate how she is feeling about Leonard being away. As such, the focus of Penny and Sheldon's time together turns from Leonard to each other. [first lines]
Leonard Hofstadter: [on phone on deck of ship in storm] Sheldon! It's not a great time. What do you want?
Sheldon Cooper: Hello to you too. I'm sorry, but this is important.
Leonard Hofstadter: What is it?
Sheldon Cooper: Back to the Future 2 was in the Back to the Future 3 case, and Back to the Future 3 was, get this, in the Back to the Future 2 case.
Leonard Hofstadter: So?
Sheldon Cooper: So... Did you do that, or am I in the house with an intruder?
Leonard Hofstadter: Sheldon, I've got to go inside. It's getting rough out here.
Sheldon Cooper: You're dodging the question. I knew it was you. What was that?

Crazy Credits

Sunday, September 8th. Two weeks before the Emmy Awards. I'm very excited to go this year. It's such a prestigious event. Win or lose, it's an honor just to be nominated. Blah-dee, blahdee, blah. What I really want to talk about is the ridiculously expensive tuxedo I bought a few days ago. Seriously, I could've gotten a small car. But that's okay. Not only can I afford it, I was assured that my purchase was the height of men's fashion. Movie stars wear this thing. I had arrived. The Jewish kid from Long Island would be draped in haute couture. I was feeling pretty good about myself. And that rosy glow of confidence lasted until later that very same day when I went to see the great Forest Whitaker in The Butler. It was a very enjoyable movie, but I couldn't help notice the style and cut of the tuxedos worn by several of the main characters. And by "notice" I mean I literally choked on my popcorn.

It probably won't happen, but I'm hoping some reporter on the red carpet asks me what designer I'm wearing. How many opportunities does a guy get to proudly say, "1957 butler"? See more »

"The Hofstadter Insuffieciency" was another hilarious ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
30 September 2013 | by See all my reviews

In the season premiere of "The Big Bang Theory": With Leonard still away, Sheldon is having nightmares and goes to Penny's to comfort her. Knowing Sheldon, it doesn't seem to work well though...Moving on, Amy and Bernadette are at a conference and go to a bar where they get bought drinks from a couple of guys. An argument ensues when they talk about their significant others. And since Raj can now talk to women, Howard convinces him to go to a social party at the university. I'll stop there and just say that the show is as funny as ever. Everyone was on full cylinders. Seeing Amy and Bernadette without Penny was a hoot! Seeing Penny and Sheldon communicate without Leonard in tow was also hilarious. And seeing Raj now talking to women without alcohol was nice to see although also still very funny. So on that note, "The Hofstadter Insufficiency" was a great start for this season of "The Big Bang Theory"!
