Storyline

Barry Allen is a Central City police forensic scientist with a reasonably happy life, despite the childhood trauma of a mysterious red and yellow lightning killing his mother and framing his father. All that changes when a massive particle accelerator accident leads to Barry being struck by lightning in his lab. Coming out of coma nine months later, Barry and his new friends at S.T.A.R labs find that he now has the ability to move at superhuman speed. Furthermore, Barry learns that he is but one of many affected by that event, most of whom are using their powers for evil. Determined to make a difference, Barry dedicates his life to fighting such threats, as The Flash. While he gains allies he never expected, there are also secret forces determined to aid and manipulate him for their own agenda. Written by Kenneth Chisholm (kchishol@rogers.com)

Trivia

The Flash made his comic book debut in January 1940 in Flash Comics #1. The original was a research scientist named Jay Garrick who gained his abilities by breathing in radioactive vapors. The second person, Barry Allen was introduced in October 1956 in Showcase #4. He gained his powers from a lightning strike as the show details. See more »

Goofs

Whenever Barry uses his super speed from a standing start, there is a gust of wind that blows in the opposite direction (for instance, if he superspeeds to the left, there is an airburst that blows to the right). Engaging his super speed in this manner would cause a suction effect creating an airburst in the same direction he's moving in. See more »

Quotes

[Season 2 opening]
Barry Allen: My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive. To the outside world, I am an ordinary forensic scientist, but secretly with the help of my friends in S.T.A.R. Labs, I fight crime and find other meta-humans like me. I hunted down the man who killed my mother, but in doing so, I opened up our world to new threats, and I am the only one fast enough to stop them. I am The Flash.

Terribly slow and boring
14 November 2018 | by kmbw-92357See all my reviews

When the show first came out it was exciting. Now, it has become so slow and boring that it's almost painful to watch. And what's up with this fake French accented scientist guy? The using the same actor to play different parts? What is that all about? Is there a shortage of actors? It has become more like a soap opera than a superhero show. The writers really need to do better hire new writers. And the love affair between Flash and his wife seems so misplaced. The constant little psychological emotional dilemmas and squabbles is not interesting at all. Flash needs to be Flash. And including Nora as the child from the future makes the whole thing seems so confusing as well as Nora having too many damn problems. Stop killing the show please.
