- Milady seeks her revenge against the Musketeers. Will the Musketeers outwit her or will she destroy them by manipulating their weakest link; D'Artagnan?
- Whilst Charlotte Mellendorf, daughter of the man Richelieu and Milady framed for the attempt to kill Queen Anne, persuades the King that he was unjustly accused. Athos publicly arrests Milady, claiming that she is a traitor and a spy for the Cardinal. She is released and instructed by Richelieu to kill the Musketeers before they can tell the King the truth. As well as bringing in Sarazin, an old friend and assassin, she contrives to turn the Musketeers against each other, though she is unaware that the supposed rift, culminating in Athos's fake death at the hands of D'Artagnan, is a ploy to trap her. She abducts Constance but the Musketeers mount a rescue attempt before telling the court the true culprits in the attempt on the queen's life. Mellendorf is released and Anne announces that she is pregnant, Aramis being the first to congratulate her.—don @ minifie-1
- Count Mellendorf's daughter Charlotte convinces King Louis that her father was innocently jailed, indeed framed by Milady at the cardinal's orders. Richelieu instructs her, released, to deal with the Musketeers, to which end she recruits street criminal Sarazin. The quartet however tricks her by pretending Athos turned on D'Artagnan and died in their duel, until Milady unwittingly confesses in the queen's presence. Yet a rather mild deal is struck 'for the good of France,' leaving the Cardinal politically in charge.—KGF Vissers
