Storyline

Keka is a virtuoso housewife who suffers because of the lethargy of her marriage with Baja, a concerned railway worker. To make things even worse, Keka is being seriously courted by Ilija, a handyman who is so clumsy that he produces apocalypse wherever he shows up. After Baja finally becomes aware of Ilija's intentions and after the two of them demolish Keka's home as a result of their clumsy showdowns, Keka decides to leave both of them and to go on a trip to the only place where she felt some happiness - to a small coastal village where she and Baja went on their honeymoon... However, things start to complicate because Keka falls under the scrutiny of Lujo, an untypical lonely fisherman-flirter. Baja and Ilija decide to go on a trip, to embark on the biggest adventure in their lives and to prove their love to Keka... Written by Pula Film Festival

Amazing funny film from Croatia!
6 February 2014 | by lanaskolnikSee all my reviews

I saw the film on the opening of Pula film festival and I must say it was shock to see something that funny, I must say hilarious and yet emotional at same time, and all that comes from Croatia! I saw previous works from director and I like those films but they were much darker and bitter films. This one deals with slapstick moves, in a way slightly Kaurismaki kind of humor and great, great actors! Areta Curkovic played really shocking role in Kino Lika and now something completely different is going on, she is avoiding all the males who attack her. And I must say, I like that thing that she is chubby woman and when watching the film nobody asks why all these men are running to get her and not somebody thinner. This is good humanistic approach which I like in Payne's films for example. Niksa Butijer, well like he came directly from Kaurismaki's films, no text, just stupid and really funny minimalistic gestures. Goran Bogdan is a real slapstick master. All that in kind of Wes Anderson visual package. A must see.
