Rose Cooper is an uptight and by-the-book cop whose name has become synonymous with screw-ups. She's given a chance to redeem herself one day when she is assigned to protect a federal witness, Daniella Riva, the vivacious and outgoing widow of a drug boss. As the two polar opposites race through Texas, they find themselves pursued by everyone from crooked cops to murderous gunmen. However, their greatest obstacle to making this out alive may be themselves as they learn that Cooper has now been considered a fugitive fleeing with Daniella. Written by HenryZ

Did You Know?

Officer Rose Cooper's height is quoted several times in the film (5', 4' 11", et cetera). Reese Witherspoon's height is actually 5' 1½". See more »

The cuff shackling Daniella to Cooper during the bus chase is obviously so big that she could have freed herself from it at any time. After the chase has ended, Sofía Vergara accidentally pulls her hand halfway out of it (a second before Cooper says "Move! Move!"), then hurriedly slides it back on her wrist. See more »

Cooper: You're in danger, ma'am, but everything's going to be fine.
Daniella Riva: What about my husband?
Cooper: Everything but your husband's going to be fine.
Daniella Riva: [hysterically] Ahhhhhh!

"I feel like the cheese fell off my cracker."

I found this to be pretty funny and I'm surprised to see that I'm in the minority on that opinion. Well I shouldn't be surprised given that Melissa McCarthy is currently popular and I think she's just the worst thing to happen to comedy in decades. Anyway this isn't challenging stuff. It's harmless fluff and it follows a by-the-numbers 'odd couple' formula we've seen many times before. But it works, in my opinion. Reese Witherspoon is very cute and funny in a different sort of role than we're used to seeing her in. Sofia Vergara is a bit more of an acquired taste. It took me awhile to warm up to her as it seems her entire shtick revolves around having an accent and being busty. So, for those of us old enough to remember, she's basically a modern day Charo. Anyway, she grew on me thanks in no small part to the nice chemistry she has with Reese. The bickering between their characters does get a little forced after awhile and, yes, the movie does lose steam as it goes along. So it isn't a surefire classic or anything. But it is an enjoyable way to pass the time and have some laughs. Reese is great in this and most of her fans will probably enjoy this because of her.
