Is this Naive Idealism, or Wicked Lies & Propoganda?
10 November 2018 | by truthismSee all my reviews

Funded by a shady 'Council of Europe', one wonders whether this film is designed to sofen-up Ireland in preparation for a massive invasion? 'Let's try and pull the wool over their smiling Irish eyes' some have said. All the Halal protagonists are happy, friendly people who integrate seamlessly into the local community, they treat their Irish girlfriends with respect, and get on well with the related menfolk, but I noticed there was no storyline involving Irish chaps having any girlfriends or wives from this merry bunch of new arrivals. An easy oversight maybe? Similarly, the fairly widely reported experiences of young girls across the Irish Sea, in Rotherham, Rochdale, Oxford and dozens of other places have been overlooked. I guess it wouldn't fit into the narrative to see youngsters force fed vodka and 'passed around like a ball' between up to a hundread middle-aged men from amongst the ranks of these kindly looking new arrivals, would it?

Still havent made my mind up who to believe yet.. There are hundreds of real-life convictions on one hand, and this fantastical work of fiction on the other. The film is more colourful and optomistic than the horrible reality though, that's for sure. I shall go and watch the 2017 BBC drama 'Three Girls' to balance out my understanding.

Colm Meaney was good in it though, he didn't sell out his countrymen at all.
