MPAA Rated PG for some thematic elements and mild peril.

Sex & Nudity

  • Very slightly suggestive scene when Dolores says "Tonight, he wants 5 babies" and Isabella blushes.
  • Mirabel's bloomers can occasionally be seen briefly under her skirt.

Violence & Gore

  • A character cuts her hand and the bloody wound is briefly visible.
  • A man's wrist is broken its brief and in a song. Its fixed immediately and is not graphic. More comedic than gross. This is done to demonstrate the healing powers of one Madrigal.

  • One of the characters says "¡Miércoles!" Which is a slang in Spanish to hide a profanity. The equivalent of said word in English would be "Oh, Shoot!"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • At a dinner, some people are shown drinking wine.
  • A character says "the magic is strong and so are the drinks"
  • One of the secondary characters is a boy who is quite hyperactive due to his coffee consumption. Mirabel takes the coffee cup away from him and tells him: "And that's why coffee is for grownups".

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Family members get into arguments with each other. All of these arguments are incredibly intense.
  • The film has house destruction sequences.
  • A machete is shown briefly and it's suggested a man is killed with it.

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Few kisses from married couples during the first music scene, a kiss between the grandmother and her husband when they got married and another kiss when he is leaving her to face the enemy.

Violence & Gore

  • A group of men are seen setting homes on fire whilst they hold some large machetes. No one on screen is killed but it is heavily implied that they killed the grandfather.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • As the house falls apart, the family, including a young child, narrowly avoid getting crushed.
  • Abuela and Mirabel have a very heated argument because of how the cracks started, and in tears, Mirabel says "I will never be good enough for you...will I!?", followed by her ranting about the burdens of her families gifts while Casita is crumbling and starting to destruct.
  • Abuela's backstory may be upsetting for some.
