oh!

It was okay... There were some funny parts, some cute parts. But if you're looking for a fantastic (even, good) rom-com, this movie isn't it.

I watched this movie for Simone Ashley and Hero, because they're both so beautiful and amazing actors. What could go wrong, right?

Well... The main couple (pia and charlie) had approximately 4 scenes together... and there was no chemistry in any of them!

There were a lot of cliche tropes, a lot of stereotyping, a lot of random cussing, and a whole lot of cringe.

The movie wasn't bad, per se, but probably (definitely) not a movie you would want to see again.

Lovely locations and good cast, but ...

It's seems so sadly wasted! The story telling is a bit clunky as the writing is lacking in freshness. Maybe the fault is in the editing or the directing, but this film is really lacking in oomph! It's like hoping for a delicious piece of chocolate cake and having to make do with a biscuit.

The group of actors that have come together is inspiring, and they could have been so wonderfully utilised. They are all so talented and could have added a real champagne sparkle to this project.

The locations are also great as they show off lovely pockets of London.

I'm sorry to say that this film lacks in sparkle, charm and romance, as the leads have little or no chemistry. Some of the supporting cast are wasted, Sindhu Vee and Adil Ray in particular. These two talents are not shown to their best advantage; such a shame.

All in all, not a good rom-com.

A bit vanilla

In theory, this should have been a good British romcom. Simone Ashley is delightful leading lady but was let down by the total lack of chemistry between her and the guy supposed to be her love interest. He felt horribly miscast. For some reason, they share only about four scenes together and every one feels stilted and unnatural. There are some good ideas, some genuinely funny scenes and enjoyable characters but the whole thing just doesn't quite click into place. It's a bit of a vanilla watch but left me wishing that it had a little more pizzazz ..... and a different actor as the love interest.

Misrepresentation of Indian culture

This film felt like it was made by someone who has never met an Indian. The cultural references are so dated and generally off, I'm surprised multiple people green lit this for release. We have Pia, the most selfish, unlikable character who doesn't have a single redeemable quality even till the end, and the leading man Charlie who's so bland there's nothing worth remembering about him. Pia and her sister's clothes are like they're dressing for Halloween with Indian costumes. The Bollywood dialogue Pia (Simone) tries to say is so poorly done that, as someone fluent in the language, I had to read the subtitles to understand what she was saying. I'm pretty sure the marketing team for the movie is suppressing videos making fun of this because there's no way more ppl aren't talking about that. The character Sid she's speaking to in that scene with the butchered Bollywood dialogue has such a forced Indian accent, it's borderline offensive. They make a mockery of an Indian priest and traditions and, for me, the most far fetched plot point is how little Pia seems to be involved in her sister's wedding! Have none of the cast and crew ever met an Indian? She turned up at her sister's pre-wedding events like she was a guest and in not a single event she helped set up or even knew what was happening! That is not how Indian weddings work lol unless you're estranged in which case you don't show up at all. Overall, very poorly done. I had higher expectations and this was a complete let down. I hope Simone does better in the future.

Just ok

Some parts were very funny, others the comedy felt forced and was too much. Jay was the best comedic character and the actor is very talented.

Charlie and Pia really lacked chemistry (does nobody screen test anymore?) which alongside the minimal amount of screentime really didn't make the romance element exciting.

I did love the character of Pia and some of her family moments but it was a bit try hard.

Best part of the film was Jay & Pia's friendship! So if you're looking for a classic romance which makes you feel warm inside, this isn't the one due to the lack of romantic scenes & chemistry alike!

A shame 😶

I watched this purely to see Simone Ashley. British movies, especially rom-coms, rarely come out with actors/actresses from a South asian background. So the representation was really important to me. However the whole storyline was so underwhelming and flat. The characters lacked depth. There were cringey lines all over the place.

You know that feeling when you really want the leads to end up together? It just felt so empty! The leads didn't have any chemistry, whatsoever. Even between 'Pia' and her sister 'Sonal'. I've got to give it to the actor who played 'Jay' who did a great job considering the circumstances. Really wish it wasn't this bad!

Good watch, lacking chemistry

Overall, I thought this movie was a great story of a young woman trying to make a living for herself. I think it's misrepresented as a rom-com. I would say this is more contemporary fiction, with a bit of romance. I think her story is beautiful and entertaining but the romance aspect was lacking. There should have been more built up chemistry between the two leads throughout the movie. Instead, it seemed like it was rushed within the last ten minutes of the movie. I would have preferred to see built up tension and chemistry throughout. I think that would have made it feel more authentic. Overall a good story, just not all that it could be.

Frantic & Fun, chaotic & charming...

... only because of Simone and Luke. I wish a little more intention was put in Hero and Simone's relationship too, the portrayal was unimpactful.

So, I found this movie unique. I was hoping for a laugh out loud comedy but instead had a smile and some laughs watching it. It's nice to see something light and silly, when everything on screen is mostly so f*ing serious these days!

I only wish a better director handled it, it fell flat in storytelling and visualization and couple of scenes felt unnecessary like she clicking photos of Akshay on their blind date.

But all in all, it is a decent watch only to see Simone's chaotic & clumsy Pia!

So disappointing

This movie is such a big letdown for me as a desi. The stereotypical, caricatured depiction of Indian culture and people in Hollywood has to stop. It is not funny. Sure, the cinematography, locations and clothes are beautiful. But the story is full of boring cliches and tropes, acting is strictly mediocre, the chemistry between the lead couple is non-existent and the comedy is cringe. The lead actress overacts and the lead actor (if he can be called that because he hardly has any screentime) seems to be sleepwalking through his scenes. I now understand why it didn't get a theatrical release. Utterly forgettable and at times downright offensive.

Meh, go watch Bridgerton S2 instead

Just okay really. Simone was wonderful and she has so much potential to be a romcom diva if given a lead she can actually build with. I think this felt more of a family comedy, like Meet the Fockers or than kind of "haha isn't my kooky weirdo family so funny to laugh at" than romantic comedy. The one guy she did have chemistry with was totally dismissed off jump when maybe they could've played with the idea of a love triangle more. I saw a lot of potential but unfortunately so many missed opportunities for the sake of an Adam Sandleresque laugh. Why so many random snippets of her meeting people to laugh at? The pundit, the rich date guy, the flat earther? Probably more too. It just all seems so unnecessary and like a distraction from what should have been her self development and that of her relationships.

Brit Desi Romcom with tint of fantasy

It's the stereotypical British desi (Indian) romantic comedy mixed up with generous Bollywood cliches.

Yes, could've done it better, perhaps risk taking by bending the character arcs isn't their cup of masala chai tea.

This movie easily goes to your afternoon or weekend watch, but definitely not a boring one... However even if you dooze off for few minutes, you can catch without rewinding.

The cast, and camera work are great, Sindu Vee in particular looks like Radhika Apte, a nice transition from her stand up, which we're used to.

If you're a Romcom person and if you can handle Indian spice, then this is a easy and pleasant watch for you.

A vanilla plot blandly executed

Really watched this movie because of the videos I watched online and it was extremely meh -.- both the leads had no chemistry and even more extremely less screen time with each other. Even the Indian representation could not make me finish the movie. I was expecting so much more! Simone and Hero were okay, but it'll take more charm to successfully keep the people hooked. Atleast one of the main characters should have more charisma to pull it off! There was potential comedy but the timing was off so it didn't hit! Hollywood needs to bring back 2000's romcom era because these don't hit the same way :(

Feels Forced

Was super excited to see Simone Ashley given her Bridgerton season is my favorite. However, was very underwhelmed by the movie, barely even cared to see the last scenes . The main couple are barely together the entire movie, we get all preface of their relationship in one brief scene. Don't understand why there was no slow burn. Writing was very forced and not realistic. Performances and characters were over the top. This is one of many streaming "romcoms" that are lazily done. Just a bummer because plot could work but poorly executed. Recommend as a background movie since it pretty predictable.

Missed the Mark

I was really looking forward to Hero and Simone delivering an outstanding performance in this movie. I genuinely like both actors, but unfortunately, they didn't get the chance to showcase their talents adequately. It makes you wonder whether it was due to the writing, directing, or some other issue. This film had the potential to be a great romantic comedy, but it ultimately fell flat.

The character Pia, played by Simone, lacked a personality that would make finding love believable. I believe Hero Fiennes is a fantastic actor, and I wish they would stop portraying Simone Ashley as a bully or grouch in her roles. In this project, as well as in her previous performances, she has yet to take on a more delicate or sweet character.

If Hero had been given a more substantial role, I think it would have significantly boosted the movie's ratings. As it stands, "Picture This" just didn't hit the mark. I look forward to seeing more of Hero Fiennes, as he is a remarkable actor. I would also love to see Simone play a gentler character. Just my two cents!

It could have been great but.....

This film had all the ingredients of a great Rom Com. It had beautiful and talented actors and actresses. A funny and sweet story line. A gay best friend, a lovely crazy Indian family but the over acting in it was just awful. It completely ruined it. It was a real shame.

Hero Fiennes was barely in it. Still it would have been acceptable if the acting wasn't so overtly odd. The main characters were constantly at each others throats in quite an agressive way. It did not give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I struggled to watch it all the way through the first time. I won't be watching it again. I know the actors are good. So it must be bad directing. Costumes and design were great, music was fun! Could have been good..... but it was sadly pretty awful.

Blind (also dates)

No pun intended - I have seen the "original" .. though I felt that the plot could have been many times over. As if I have seen it more than once. Cliches and all that included - that said, there is some fun to be had, if you dismiss and/or suspend your disbelief ... it is about accepting that a romantic movie (comedy) does not care too much about ... reality if you want to call it that.

There are way too many over the top scenes (talking about the dates) ... characters are way too overdrawn ... quite laughable to say the least. And yet, while they are also cringe-worthy, you may find some humor in it ... the charisma of the main actors really help the movie never losing too much momentum ... take a picture ... it will last longer? Well sort of ... not sure this will last too long (on any list)

A total time waste

There are bad movies, and then there are movies that make you question your life choices. Picture This falls firmly into the latter category. What was meant to be an uplifting, feel-good experience quickly turned into an exhausting mess of unconnected dramatic moments, forced empowerment, and sheer frustration. If you've ever sat through a film and thought, Why am I doing this to myself?-this is exactly that kind of movie.

From the very beginning, Picture This struggles to establish any sort of coherence. The story-if we can even call it that-seems to revolve around relationships, personal growth, and finding oneself. Sounds promising, right? Unfortunately, the movie's execution is nothing short of disastrous. Scenes feel randomly thrown together with no logical progression. One minute, a character is delivering an emotional monologue about self-worth; the next, they're dancing like nothing happened, and then suddenly, they're storming out of a room in tears. Instead of developing an engaging and heartfelt story, the film drowns itself in disconnected dramatic moments that fail to build any real emotional weight.

One of the most frustrating aspects of Picture This is its obsession with forcing "empowering" messages at the worst possible times. It's as if the filmmakers had a checklist of inspirational one-liners they needed to squeeze in, regardless of whether they made any sense in the context of the scene. The result? A series of cringe-inducing moments where characters blurt out motivational quotes in situations that don't call for them at all. Imagine someone spilling coffee on themselves and responding with, "This is just another step in my journey to self-acceptance." That's the level of absurdity we're dealing with. Instead of feeling inspired, I felt secondhand embarrassment.

Then there's the acting. While not completely terrible, it's certainly nothing to praise. The cast does what they can with the material, but there's only so much an actor can do when the script gives them lines that sound like they were lifted from a self-help book. There are moments where you can tell the actors themselves don't believe what they're saying, and honestly, who can blame them?

Visually, the film is average at best. The costume design is one of the very few redeeming qualities-characters are well-dressed, and some outfits are genuinely stylish. But let's be honest, you don't watch a movie for fashion alone. If good clothing choices were enough to make a film enjoyable, we'd be rating this a 10/10. Sadly, they're not.

The vibes? Absolutely abysmal. A "feel-good" movie should leave you, well, feeling good. Picture This left me feeling irritated and drained. Instead of delivering comfort or inspiration, it served up frustration and disbelief. I can handle a cheesy, predictable movie as long as it's fun. But Picture This doesn't even have the decency to be entertaining in its mediocrity. It's the cinematic equivalent of someone trying way too hard to be deep and meaningful but coming across as completely tone-deaf.

After watching, the only question on my mind was: Why did I waste my time on this? And honestly, I don't have a good answer. There are plenty of feel-good movies that actually deliver on their promises-movies that make you laugh, cry, and leave you with a sense of warmth. Picture This is not one of them. If anything, it's a cautionary tale of what happens when a film tries too hard to be profound without putting in the effort to actually tell a compelling story.

Final Ratings: -Story: 0/10 (If you can even call it a story) -Acting: 1/10 (They tried, I guess) -Costumes: 6/10 (At least they looked good) -Vibes: 1/10 (Just... no)

Would I recommend this movie? Absolutely not. Save yourself the frustration and watch something-anything-else.

Another cheeky rom com!!!!

Okay, so Picture This (2025) is basically a giant wheel of feel-good cheese, aged to perfection with just the right amount of nostalgia. It's like someone took all the best parts of early 2000s teen movies, melted them down like a dreamy queso dip, and served them up with extra romance and heart. And honestly? I ate up every single second.

First off, the lead couple? Absolute chemistry overload. I'm talking butterflies, giggles, and that kind of tension where you just KNOW they belong together-like wine and brie, a match made in heaven. The humor? It's got more cheese than a pizza with extra mozzarella, packed with adorably awkward moments and romantic one-liners smoother than a wheel of Camembert. The soundtrack? Pure gold, like the melty goodness of a perfect grilled cheese sandwich-warm, nostalgic, and totally satisfying.

Sure, is it predictable? Obviously. But that's what makes it so comforting! It's the cinematic equivalent of digging into a big ol' plate of mac and cheese after a long day. Familiar, heartwarming, and impossible to put down. Every scene is a gooey, golden moment of joy, dripping with charm like a fresh fondue pot.

If you love rom-coms, teen nostalgia, and movies that wrap you up like a cozy cheese blanket, Picture This is it.

Yeah..no

It's somewhat entertaining, and Simone is lovely as always. I watched this movie because I saw she was starring in it. She should pick more romcom scripts, but with better screenplay.

The movie had a bunch of offensive moments, not just cultural appropriation but "jokes" that were unfunny. The costumes were nice. The 5 dates trope was gimmicky and not very well executed. The astrologer bit was highly uncharismatic, and not in a comedic way. Gay best friend trope was actually aright, the actor is good. The mom and sister - no. Tom Riddle has not been able to feel love and it shows in the lack of chemistry.

No chemistry at all!

This would have been a much more enjoyable ride had it not been for a bland performance by the leading man ands total lack of chemistry with Simone Ashley, who really deserves better! Don't know who this Hero person is, but he completely lacks personality - didn't believe for minute that Pia would ever "pine away" for Charlie. Part of the problem is that the rest of the cast is so much fun to watch so he just came across as a dud. Don't mean to dump on the poor guy, but I took a look at one of his other films - After - and couldn't get through it. Putting the weakness of the film aside, his performance, once again, was a "paint by numbers" performance.
