Storyline

When Vivian discovers that Ethan is a Jew, albeit 'non-practicing', she gets him to agree to convert to catholicism so she can have her church wedding, but he realizes he can't give up his entire identity for a woman he doesn't even really love and cancels the marriage. Libby is grateful to Ethan for resuming her fertility treatment, but when the initially secret pregnancy comes to William's ears, he's furious at both. The sex study becomes ever bolder, involving both 'researchers' ever more physically, yet she refuses to be paid like other subjects, while even their eager secretary changes her mind about being filmed. Perils of the job
16 November 2016 | by Mr-FusionSee all my reviews

'Involuntary' turned out to be one of the sadder episodes, not because any dramatic bombs went off (well, except for Ethan, who's set on burning his domestic bliss to the ground), but because it gets back to the core sex study . . . and the confusion that can come of it. It's clouding Bill's marriage for one thing, but it's also distressing for Virginia, who loses sight of where the line is between love and business. Hell, they both do. It's a brutal occupational hazard and the results are hard to stomach. Immense credit to Lizzy Caplan for playing it beautifully.
