In March 2019, Lori Loughlin
(Abigail Stanton) was indicted for bribing admissions officials so her children could be admitted to the University of Southern California. Hallmark announced on March 14, 2019 it was no longer working with Loughlin and had stopped development of any productions involving her. This caused a delay for When Calls the Heart: Heart of a Mountie
(2019), which had been slated to air on 3/17/19 as Hallmark assessed what to do with the role. Loughlin, a U.S. resident, was specifically allowed by the Judge to keep her passport to travel to Canada to continue working with Hallmark on this show, but Hallmark terminated her. The agreement with the Judge expires in December after which Loughlin will have to surrender her passport. However, there is no public word on whether that has been modified since Hallmark took action.
In April 2019, the federal government added money laundering charges after Loughlin and her husband did not plead guilty to the original charge after others charged in the case took did so. In order to edit out appearances of Loughlin's character Abigail, Hallmark did considerable editing for the remainder of Season 6, which ended up reducing the show count by one. It has not been determined if the character will be recast or written out. See more
A common theme throughout Jack and Elizabeth's relationship is "Love is patient, love is kind" from 1 Corinthians 13. But with the series set in the early 1900s, the only English version of the Bible available at the time was the King James version which says "Charity suffereth long and is kind". The NIV version is what says "love is patient, love is kind" and wasn't published until 1973.
Correction: The American Revised Standard was published in 1900. It was widely viewed as a "modern" edition of the Bible and many young, educated people like Jack and Elizabeth embraced it. It would have been available even in the wilds of Canada through various booksellers' catalogs and religious societies. Its I Coinrthians 13 reads, "Love is patient, love is kind..." So this is not an anachronism at all. See more
