The reason that many characters in a town in Northamptonshire speak with Scots accents is that, when the New Town was founded in the 1950s and the original settlement greatly expanded, the steelworkers were largely relocated from Scotland. Therefore first and second (and even third) generation residents retained at least traces the Scottish accent.

Principal photography on the project started in September 2023. Filming took place in Breightmet, in Bolton that month. Filming also took place in Stockport, Holmfirth, St Helens, Liverpool, and Sale.
