Director Phil Hawkins and producer Alexandra Bentley talk to us about their Ukti Talent Goes To Hollywood win and the experiences of the subsequent trip to Los Angeles to meet key figures to pitch their film Baptism – an adaptation of the Max Kinnings novel of the same name.

An armed group take control of a rush hour underground tube train. They blow a hole through the tunnel to release the water from an underground river they believe is blessed and will baptise the passengers of their sins. Ed Mallory, a blind hostage negotiator, has a race against time to try and talk down the hostage takers and save the lives of everyone onboard.

Alexandra Bentley wins with thriller based around a hostage crisis on the London Underground.

UK Trade & Investment (Ukti) has announced the winner of a competition aimed at giving the UK’s finest creative talent access to Hollywood heavyweights.

Alexandra Bentley, who co-founded the Philm Company, won an all-expenses paid visit to the Us in the Talent Goes to Hollywood competition 2015 with her spec trailer for the new film she is producing, Baptism.

The action thriller, about a hostage crisis on the London Underground, is based on a novel by Max Kinnings and will be directed by Phil Hawkins.

The visit to the Us will see her attend the Britannia Awards in Los Angeles at the end of this month and be connected to leading industry figures.

Ukti staff will also arrange for one-to-one meetings and mentoring sessions to help Bentley get the most out of her visit.

Robert Englund joins The Last Showing
Psychological horror, which starts shooting this week, to star Nightmare on Elm Street’s Robert Englund and Game of ThronesFinn Jones.

The Philm Company has announced the start of principal photography of The Last Showing, a $2m psychological horror that will shoot for four weeks, entirely on location in the north west of England.

Cult horror actor Robert Englund (Nightmare On Elm Street) and Keith Allen (Shallow Grave) join a cast that includes Screen International Star of Tomorrow Malachi Kirby (Gone Too Far), Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) and Emily Berrington (The White Queen).

The Last Showing is from an original script by writer-director Phil Hawkins (Being Sold), marking his third feature. Former 20th Century Fox executive Alexandra Baranska is producing. The film is fully financed by equity investors through the Enterprise Investment Scheme.
