Sex & Nudity

  • There is a bare but of man and woman shown and a woman naked with her hair covering her breasts and an item covering her vagina
  • No nudity what-so-ever. While there are a couple of sex scenes it's usually implied and when it's actually screened it's under the covers and it doesn't show anything.

Violence & Gore

  • Shooting is the most common type of violence in the series. Some other examples are stabbings, and while very infrequent, gore. All of these examples are almost always portrayed with varying degrees of blood letting. Corpses of deceased characters are sometimes shown, with bloody imagery.
  • Violence is common throughout though fluctuates in severity. There are instances of gun violence, physical and verbal violence with blood being shown frequently.


  • Season 1: Occasional instances of "shit", "tits", "pussy", "piss" and others.
  • Season 2: Occasional uses "shit". Other words such as "pussy", "goddammit", and "hell "are used throughout.
  • Season 3: Same language as previous seasons, uses of "shit", "piss", "asshole", "damn", and others are heard throughout

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters drink alcohol throughout and there are mentions of marijuana use. A character in season 3 does use marijuana and is seen using it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Suspense plays a prominent role in the series. While Fargo (2014) is far more harmless than the film, it is still not recommended for kids, it might be okay for teens (16+) and up.
  • Extended threatening situations throughout.
