Storyline

The gang is heading to the Farhampton Inn for Robin and Barney's nuptials. Marshall has picked Marvin up in St. Cloud and is flying back to New York. A photo of Marshall and Marvin that Judy has just posted on the Internet has the potential to ruin Marshall and Lily's marriage if Lily sees it, and may also threaten Marshall's ability to make it back to New York in time for the wedding. Ted and Lily are driving out to Farhampton together. Ted wants the trip to be the best road trip ever, but his idea and Lily's idea of a fun road trip are totally different. Ted has ulterior motives for having his type of fun on this trip. Lily, not being able to take Ted anymore, decides to ditch him part way and take the train instead. She meets someone on the train that understands what she's going through. That person has the potential to be a life long friend, much like Robin has become. And Ranjit is driving Robin and Barney to Farhampton in his limousine. As Robin and Barney talk about those ... Written by Huggo

Quotes

Lily Aldrin: That locket's trouble.
Ted Mosby: How? It's-it's just a friendly, innocent wedding gift.
Lily Aldrin: It's not innocent. Ted, you think if you can get that locket for Robin you'll win her back.
Ted Mosby: Lily, I've let it go. I mean What? There's, like, a one percent chance that Stella has the locket from when we lived together.
Lily Aldrin: Ted. Promise me you didn't call the woman who *left* you at the altar so that you could find that locket.
Ted Mosby: Of course not. I e-mailed her.
Lily Aldrin: Ted!

The beginning of an end
24 September 2013 | by Dennis CallananSee all my reviews

Just a quick summation of Season 8:

I personally thought season 8 was the most inferior in comparison to the rest of the seasons. Saying that, it was still quite enjoyable and a few exceptions stood out from the rest of the episodes. So I would have agreed that it's time to start finishing up the series on a good note while still possible.

This episode was indeed a nice start to the final season. It definitely evoked some of the old HIMYM laughter I've been absent from for the last few months.

We finally get an insight on the future Mrs. Mosby's character and I can imagine most viewers will be satisfied.

A new complication has arisen between Barney and Robin, briefly placing an obstacle in the way of their sexual relationship.

There were quite a few amusing scenarios in the episode, leading to humorous spectacles as always. Every character has an important role to play in this episode, a nice way to begin the season and to recap previous complexities.

All in all, I'm very satisfied. In a comical humor again with this series being back on air and have high hopes that this season will accomplish the positive closure it deserves.
